Mayor Michael Bloomberg said Friday that the lack of cooperation from the captain of the Staten Island ferry that crashed gives the city the legal right to keep him off the payroll.
"The way he's going about this, defending himself, has given us the legal right to suspend him and not pay him," Bloomberg said during his weekly radio show on WABC-AM 770.
Capt. Michael Gansas was suspended without pay effective Oct. 22 when he refused to talk to investigators about the Oct. 15 accident that killed 10 people and injured dozens.
