Bush Calls Turkey a 'Front' in War on Terror
DARLINGTON, England, Nov. 21 -- President Bush identified Turkey as a new front in the war on terrorism Friday and offered American assistance to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

On the last day of a state visit to Britain, Bush called the Turkish leader from Air Force One while flying to British Prime Minister Tony Blair's parliamentary district here in northern England. Bush offered his condolences for Thursday's attack on two British buildings in Istanbul that killed 30 people, only days after synagogue bombings in that city killed 23.

Bush separated the transition to Iraqi civilian authority and the military occupation. "We're talking two separate tracks," he told the newspaper. "The political track is developing and it's developing well," Bush said, because there have not been major refugee flows, sectarian violence or hunger. As for the occupation, he said, "we will stay until Iraq is allowed to emerge as a free society, which we know will happen."

During the stopover, Bush and Blair had lunch at a pub called the Dun Cow Inn in Sedgefield with about 50 selected locals. While opponents and supporters held small demonstrations outside, Bush signed several autographs, including one on a U.S. flag. He drank a non-alcoholic beer with a meal of fish and chips, mushy peas, leek and potato soup and creme brulee.

Is it illegal to deface the US flag by autographing it? Also, is "non-alcoholic lager" the same as 3/2 beer?

1. Yeah, it is. He's done it before though.
And if you seriously think the President of the US will be prosecuted for this, dream on.

4. * won't be prosecuted
for anything. He has some sort of invisible alien force field around him...or just lots of money and the right connections.

13. He reminds me so much of The Smiler from Transmetropolitan
Bilks sympathy, does blatantly illegal things on an almost daily basis, intentionally screws over everyone he possibly can, and shrugs it all off with a stupid smirk.

Where are you, Spider? ;_;

3. Did he get Turkish approval for this?
Or has he just (rhetorically) annexed Turkey for his "war on terra?"

6. So, is the US a "front" for terrorists?
Asked whether Turkey was a new front, Bush said: "It sure is. Two major explosions. And Iraq is a front, Turkey is a front, anywhere the terrorists think they can strike is a front."

7. The US are the terrorists on that front
Turkey may well be the lynch pin to all that oil in central Asia.
If need be, Bush will export terra to the four corners of the earth
in the expoitation of the world's oil!

8. I guess the increasing number of fronts must mean we're losing
Terrorism is increasing, therefore more "fronts", which really means more and more attacks on America's allies. This isn't winning, this is losing. The corrupt, warmongering administration will only make the situation worse. I pray that there are no more "fronts" until we can throw this cabal into the street, and hopefully, into jail.

10. Hopefully, Turkey turned his offer of "help" down. US seems to draw
trouble and terrorists like "flies to shit".

11. You're right. Alcoholics
shouldn't touch the stuff. They say in AA that if you drink NA beer, all that's keeping you from the real stuff is a raised index finger and a nod toward the bartender. He also drank NA beer at his barbecue last summer.

He's such a fool. He's so far from reality that he's a caricature, a comic book character, placed in his position to piss me off 24 hours a day.

12. Meanwhile
when I read this headline I assumed that he was saying that by eating turkey on Thursday we'll be fighting terrorism.

Is it just me, or does something this absurd seem not out of the realm of possiblity coming from Bush?

The neocons, they're eating my brain.

14. History is going to savage the Bush Administration on this....
The so-called "front" in the so-called "war on terror" is anywhere there is a person with a bomb. It's everywhere and nowhere at the same time.

Using the language and tactics of WWII to fight this loosely knit global band of religious fanatics is going to backfire and fail big time, in fact it already is...

16. Fronts in a war on terror?
There are no armies, no fronts, no borders.
Only a moron would suggest that an Adjective has a front.
only Nouns can have fronts, or be shot, for that matter.

It becomes more obvious every day that PNAC did not really plan this war thing as well as they thought they had. Maybe if they had actually had a few military people involved it would have gone better. But this Charlie-Foxtrot cannot be saved, merely abandoned, at great loss of life and money.

Bush will have us in a command economy by 2005. Future historians will call it war-corporatism. You will work 55 hour weeks minimum with no overtime, and be required to travel by car to another state on your one week vacation.

17. It's a "front" in the "war"
We're trapped in a fuzzy analogy that doesn't work.
