Official Ticketed After Incident At Roadblock For Cheney

EAGLE, Colo. -- Town Manager William Powell was ticketed when he allegedly tried to go through a roadblock set up for Vice President Dick Cheney's motorcade last week. Powell was issued a summons for disorderly conduct and obstructing a peace officer. The charges carry a fine of up to $1,000 or one year in jail.

The incident occurred June 15 at a roadblock on the road where Powell lives, said Kim Andre, Eagle County Sheriff's spokeswoman.

According to a sheriff's report, volunteer firefighter Michael Montag, who was staffing the road block, said Powell was swearing and waving his arms and tried to walk around Montag.

Montag told deputies he had to stop Powell several times. He said Powell told him he had to get his son to Denver for a flight.
