Bill seeks to ease Reserve burden by beefing up Army
http://www.dailyrepublic.com/articles/2003/11/23/news/news6.txt

FAIRFIELD -- Rep. Ellen Tauscher, D-Alamo, introduced legislation in Washington Friday to temporarily increase the number of troops in the U.S. Army to counter its overreliance on the Reserve and National Guard.

"If this administration is going to deploy thousands of troops across the globe, the size of our military needs to reflect that," Tauscher said in a press release.

The bill proposes to increase the Army by 40,000 to 522,400 troops through 2008.

what bill is this?

and how the hell is it supposed to "increase the Army"?

1. Well, does the word conscription come to mind?
With 49% of the reserve/national guard members saying they won't re-enlist, and $28 million being spent to ready Selective Service by late next spring...the motivation and the means are being set in place.

2. Ahem - hey GeDubya - ya think the rest of the world can't READ ??

. . so with an announcement like that

You think North Korea is gonna say - ok we'll back off

You think China is not sitting there saying HmmmmMMMMMM !! ??

You think Putin is not noticing

And India

And Pakistan

and so on

so ANOTHER major arms race is on

although the problem in the USA is not in not having enough arms

IT'S GETTING THEIR OWN CITIZENS WILLIING TO USE THEM !!

and THAT

will be the undoing of the USA as a World Power

POWER is easy to GET

But to KEEP it, you must gain people's respect.

And the USA's Admistration is pretty short on respect WorldWide.

Just A Humble Canadian's Observations

3. The bill is called the DRAFT
Actually it's not, but expect to see some Orwellian name attached to a bill that is basically the DRAFT in sheeps clothing. Something like, "Freedom Defense Act" or somesuch nonsense.
