Civil-Rights Group: Eight Observers Arrested at Trade Talks, Four Beaten
http://ap.tbo.com/ap/breaking/MGAONVVECND.html

MIAMI (AP) - Eight legal observers sent to monitor Miami police during trade protests were arrested, and four were beaten by officers, their organization said Saturday as dozens of protesters were issued bond.

Heidi Boghosian, executive director of the National Lawyers Guild, said her group of legal observers had been targeted by police, a claim disputed by Miami police spokesman Delrish Moss.

"Legal observers would not be arrested if they were simply observers," Moss said. "If they crossed the line and were actually to do something like pick up a rock or bottle and throw it, they would move from observer to criminal."

Nearly 200 people were arrested during a week of demonstrations as trade ministers drafted a blueprint for free trade in the Western Hemisphere.

3. This is a really alarming development folks
The NLG sends official observers; they're the
only org that does that. The ACLU will only
send unofficial observers. And legal observers
are essential at rallies.

As far as I know this is a first, for official
legal observers to be targeted. (Are there any
NLG members that can confirm?) Very ominous.

"Legal observers would not be arrested if they were simply observers," Moss said. "If they crossed the line and were
actually to do something like pick up a rock or bottle and
throw it, they would move from observer to criminal."

Oh right! Always the same lie. Always!
Couldn't they spruce up the stale old story?
Say that the legal observers threw clipboards or something?

Apparently every protester the cops arrest is pulling
a wagon of rocks and bottles behind them. Fuckin' liars.

4. "throwing Rocks"...What a crock of smelly diarrhea!
I SAW the video on TV! The fuzz lined up in their "Hut-Hut!" suits and started in a line towards the protesters/spectators. Anyone who wasn't fast enough to get out of the way and was "bumped" by the cops was thrown to the ground, clubbed like a baby seal and had a pig hold them down by placing their shield on top of them then kneeling on it.

When Martial Law comes, don't worry about the Army. They may not have the "stomach" for man-handling and beating their country men, but your average cop has no such qualms. I'd hazard a guess that more than a few of them jerk-off to the mental picture of handing out the ultimate ass-whupping to civilians...

5. Sounds like par for the course for Imperial Amerika
As with other Third-World Nations, the Busheviks get very antsy when confronted by Official Observers.

Take heed, Jimmy Carter, for not only is this what the Busheviks will try to do to your group if you attempt to get in their way, but undoubtedly the other Third World nations besides Imperial Amerika are shaking their hads and wondering why they ever let your people in there in the first place?
