North Korea demands Japan revoke sanctions: report
Edited on Thu Jul-06-06 11:25 PM by cal04
North Korea demanded that Japan halt sanctions it has imposed in reaction to Pyongyang's missile launches, threatening "stronger action" if Tokyo continues with the measures, Kyodo news agency said on Friday.

"Japan is translating its criticism against us into action," the agency quoted Song Il-ho, North Korea's ambassador in charge of diplomatic normalization talks with Japan, as telling reporters in Pyongyang.

"This may force us to take stronger physical actions," as a response, he said. Asked what the steps may be, he said, "I leave that to your imagination," Kyodo reported.

Japan banned a North Korean ferry from entering Japanese ports for six months as part of a package of initial sanctions following Pyongyang's launch of a series of missiles that landed in the Japan Sea on Wednesday.

3. "stronger physical actions" ????
North Korea can't be that nuts.

Japan would wipe the floor with them if it came to a shooting war. And they might not even care if S. Korea gets trashed, either.

4. "Stronger physical actions" probably means that North Korea
is planning to start kidnapping more Japanese.

5. Korea
may not want to push Japan too hard. Japan would wipe the floor with them, give them 2 years to get thier military going and it would be all over. Then China would be involved because they do not want a militarized Japan,

6. Well, that's not a good deal as far as Japan is concerned . . .
They are supposed to revoke sanctions against North Korea to preserve the status quo? How about North Korea doing something in return, like pointing the missiles toward China at least?

10. I thought I saw on the news this morning...
...that Japan DID revoke its sanctions.

That kind of surprised me at first, but then I chalked it up as an example of how the Bush Doctrine on Preemptive Strikes will rise up and continually bite us in the ass.
