NEW YORK (MarketWatch) - World leaders on Wednesday condemned a serious of eight deadly bombings that tore through cars of commuter railroads in Mumbai and killed at least 190 people in an apparently coordinated attack.
The attacks came during rush hour Tuesday evening, when the commuter rail system in the financial capital was at its most crowded.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the explosions, the largest the city has experienced in years, although suspicion has fallen on Kashmiri separatists. The Wall Street Journal citied officials and security analysts as saying the coordinated explosions shared similarities to recent attacks by Kashmiri militants, who in October set off three bomb blasts in markets in the capital city of New Delhi, killing more than 60 people.
"I urge people to remain calm, not to believe rumors and carry on their activities normally," said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. "The government will take all possible measures to maintain law and order and defeat the forces of terrorism."
Rescue efforts reportedly were being hampered by heavy monsoon rains.
