1. You mean he's
actually attending a funeral?

I don't even have to look at the TV. I already know I'm wrong.

2. Nah
He's speaking in front of a crowd of soldiers who are so pumped up that they're chanting "USA! USA!" as often as possible. It sounds more like he's at a High School pep rally.

3. MSNBC cut back to pre-debate coverage
Thank goodness.

I guess the mods could lock this one, if they want.

26. I'll bet it was so beautiful then. It's pretty now, but overdeveloped.
Did you ever go up to Cripple Creek?

30. Ah yes!
Many times I went to Cripple Creek. When I left Colorado Springs in 1951 to go into the service. The town was around 18-20 thousand, or around there, the main big street was Tejon. I don't care for the town any more. But I loved it as I rememberd it as a child. My father still lives in the Springs and was last back there when Mom died two years ago.

It was a strong right wing town long as I can remember. My grandparent and folks are or were all very far to the right. Needless to say I never fit in, as they thought I was crazy. And if I am crazy, then so be it.

6. He's campaigning--in my state.
He always likes to have soldiers around as props. But Ft. Carson has lost a lot of soldiers in this fun little war he trumped up with his buddies. It makes me wonder what these soldiers, today at Ft. Carson, will think about it twenty or more years from now.

5. Tweety is drooling!
Said that Bush is "looking good" in his Ike-style jacket. Bush should be ashamed to wear the military-style jacket of a REAL general and leader!

Tweety Matthews is truly shameful the way he carries on about how Bush looks in his latest costumes. Must keep a pic of Dubya near his pillow.

24. I should clarify. Clark WAS there recently, but Ft. Carson has
taken some hits during this war--I didn't mean to be callous). Ft. Carson has lost at least 25 soldiers.

11. When I see Bush* in "uniform," I am always reminded
Edited on Mon Nov-24-03 04:00 PM by SpiralHawk
of the lack of respect he showed when he was supposed to be wearing one in the Texas National Air Guard.

And I think also of what Gen. Wes Clark said today, about the way Bush is dishonoring our American sons and daughters who have died in Iraq by having issued a rule that prevents public burial and acknowledgement of their service and supreme sacrifice.

Our dead and wounded veterans deserve full honor. Maybe the war they died in was started on the basis of lies, but that is none of their doing. Bush, Cheney, Rice and the others have that responsibility. Our dead and wounded soldiers have conducted themselves with honor and dignity. They gave the last full measure. The man who has been appointed pResident has no moral right to deny them our national recognition of their sacrifice. But that is what Bush has done, and is continuing to do.

Sad thoughts. Bush talks a good game, but he demonstrates profound disrespect, and epic dishonor.

* AWOL while honor-bound by solemn oath to be serving with the Texas National Guard in the 1970s; defeated by a clear majority of patriotic and discerning American voters in the 2000 election; appointed to office by the so-called supreme court.

12. It irks me to no end that Junior has so many opportunities like this
to spew his Hitler propaganda. I expect we'll see lots more of these 'pep rallies' during the 2004 campaign. All of these 'photo ops', of course, are free...courtesy of his lock-step media whores!

Glad to hear "we're fighting the terrorists over there...so, we don't have to fight them on the streets of Amerika." Gee, that's sounds to me like, "Bring 'em on!"

Isn't it wonderful to be an Amerikan?

...drool over what a "manly man" the chimp is he will continue to do so.

It's amazing what kind of hypocricy you can get away with when you have the media in your pocket.

15. that was frightening
I felt afraid for the world watching that. He invoked God, he talked about how glad he was that the military is "on my side" and he spouted nationalism and hubris and arrogance.

He's not done yet. Still ranting on CNN.

20. Can't stand to listen and can't stand
to see him degrade that military jacket either - oh I can't even bear to hear his name - what a phony! And Matthews insists on calling him Commander in Chief and said "he's practically in uniform" - fine, put him in full uniform and send him to Iraq sincwe he thinks it's so great. Who would want that man at a soldier's funeral? Nobody; however, I feel cameras should be allowed at Dover, DE - that I do not understand.

22. I watched a bit of it on CNN
What news value does this have? I mean CNN ran it for like 30 minutes. It's a pep rally. A campaign ad. Why is this getting any coverage?

When Clark spoke there did the three cable news network cover it live?

Edited on Mon Nov-24-03 04:29 PM by Marianne
with the girls. That he was AWOL himself and that he lied to kill thousands of innocent people, never occur to these very young, giggly, girls who will defend us? They are just impressionable teenagers and I am beginning to dislike them all for this kind of shit--laughing it up with the mass murderer, as their fellow soldiers are being killed daily in Iraq and now, also, Afganistan.

Get these giggling teenagers out of my sight -- they need to grow up.

27. Was this planned a long time ago or was this just ginned up to
coincide with Clark's remarks about honoring the military?
The first thing I thought was that this campaign is going to
be the battle of the century.
