MY COMMENT: I'm surprised this story had not yet been posted. How much does anyone want to bet that this will be either "forgotten" or reported as just another accident.

"In Afghanistan, five U.S. soldiers are dead and seven injured after their helicopter crashed near Kabul. The cause of the incident remains unknown.

The helicopter went down Sunday close to the US. military headquarters in Afghanistan at Bagram Air Base, about one hour's drive north of the capital, Kabul."

...snip...

"In another incident just hours before the crash, two U.S. soldiers patrolling near the border with Pakistan were wounded when their vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.

Insurgents led by what is left of Afghanistan's hardline Taleban regime have increased attacks on Afghan and U.S. targets in recent weeks."

MY COMMENT: But everything is under control. No problem, be happy.

1. Important story. Good point.
But, er, isn't VOA a CIA-run agency?

Just asking. This is what I've read.

3. My friend's Husband may have been on
that copter - no word yet. How horrible to have to wait for news confirming or denying that he is one of the dead! I feel awful for her and this is realling starting to hit closer to home, although I have been outraged since the beginning.

Does anyone know how long it takes for the names of the dead to show up in media outlets? Is there a website or something that gives names of Americans killed in combat?

What a horrible thing for a the families of these soldiers to bear! And f**king shrub is headed off for some more R&R at his Crawford ranch. Bastard!!

7. here's the site to bookmark
On The Washington Post, called Faces of the Fallen, with photos of each GI and info about how he/she died.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/world/iraq/casualties/facesofthefallen.htm

Those copter deaths are not listed there yet. I think it may update every Friday.

8. I HEAR you!
I am afraid for my nephew too.
The mission fits his job description.
NOTHING, NADA, about who died or suffered injury.
I keep checking the Lunaville.org site and so far,
"NO NAMES HAVE BEEN RELEASED"
Why is that?
My brother, his father, a vet himself, tells me
fact is, the army wont know for a few days.
Cannon fodders don't have names, I guess-
If they did though, you can damn well bet they would
not carry the names of the men who sent them there.
