Kurdish official says Iran shells Kurds in Iraq

BAGHDAD, July 20 (Reuters) - A senior Iraqi-Kurdish official accused Iranian forces on Thursday of shelling Kurdish guerrillas in northern Iraq.

Othman Mahmoud, interior minister of the Kurdish regional government in the north, said shelling was going on along the border about 170 km (105 miles) north of the city of Sulaimaniya.

Militants from minority Kurdish groups from Iran and Turkey have based themselves in northern Iraq.

Mahmoud said it was still not clear whether there were any casualties.

"We in the regional Kurdish government condemn this act which is a violation of international law," said Mahmoud.

1. And he is probably in the CIA's payroll
someone please tell him that he may well see the Turks coming into Northern Iraq to come after Kurdish terrorists. He should worry more about the Turks than the Iranians!

2. What came first, the chicken or the egg?
Iranian Kurds training in Iraq have been attacking inside of Iran for the last couple of years. The bombings earlier this year in Iranian cities were reported to be committed by the MKO.

4. We are one shell, one bullet, one bomb away from everything
and everyone coming unglued.

We as a world are walking across the hot coals of war. And this path is endless. Once we pause, the world gets burned.

War is easy, peace is hard. It seems as if our lazy ass leaders in this world always take the easy way out of things.

6. We are on the cusp of a major "settle old scores" war in the Middle East
a war that would engulf Turkey, Iran, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Israel, the US, and perhaps even Jordan.

In her 1962 book The Guns of August, Barbara Tuchman describes how an entanglement of alliances led to the Great War of 1914. Today we have a similar entanglement of alliances, but one involving ethnic and religious groups, rather than nations. The results can be as deadly as what brought us the First World War.

5. How do we know it isn't Turkey or Sunnis or Americans or Kurds themselves?
