(11-25) 16:08 PST WASHINGTON (AP) --

James R. Wilkinson, top spokesman for Gen. Tommy Franks during the Iraq war, has been appointed deputy national security adviser for communications, the White House announced Tuesday.

Bush also appointed Sean McCormack, the National Security Council's spokesman, to be senior director of the NSC's press office.

Both appointments are effective Dec. 1.

4. just read a related article (sort of)
and it had these paragraphs:

Already, Jim Wilkinson, director of strategic communications at US Central Command in Doha, Qatar (the operation that gave the world the Jessica Lynch rescue), has moved to New York to head up media operations for the Republican National Convention. "We're looking at embedding reporters," he told the New York Observer of his plans to use some of the Iraq tricks during the convention. "We're looking at new and interesting camera angles."

The war is coming home.

Hate to be an alarmist, but this does not sound good :(

6. See the interview w/Franks in the latest issue of Cigar Aficionado
Even for a noted policy journal like Cigar fficionado, it's an eye-opener. Everybody's favorite mass murderer unburdens himself of the belief that the US will have to ditch constitutional government the minute there's a WMD attack - whether upon us *or* one of our allies. He says, with evident relish, that we'll opt for military rule.

Comforting to know that if, say, London or Warsaw is toasted, we get to take orders from generals for the rest of our lives, isn't it?
