CBS/NYTimes: Poll: World Doesn't Respect Bush
Edited on Wed Jul-26-06 05:44 PM by RamboLiberal
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/07/26/opinion/polls/main1838662.shtml

Americans generally approve of President Bush's handling of the current Mideast crisis, according to a CBS News/New York Times poll, but six in 10 say the president is not respected by foreign leaders.

The poll finds Americans are pessimistic about the prospects for Mideast peace and do not think the United States should involve itself in the fighting between Israel and Hezbollah.

More than 60 percent think the conflict will lead to a larger war in the region, and a similar number doubt Israel and the Arab states will ever be able to live in peace.

Just 32 percent said U.S. troops should be sent to the Mideast as part of a United Nations peacekeeping force, although 60 percent favor such a force.

More Americans (47 percent) said they approve of how Mr. Bush has handled the conflict so far than disapprove (27 percent), but one in four said it's too early to form an opinion.

1. I think people just tune out of ME turmoil
I can't believe that anyone who disapproves of bush overall could approve of his stubborn and deadly refusal to support a cease fire.

2. This is breaking news? LOL
When did Bush have the world's respect? Maybe right after 9/11 but that was probably more support rather than respect. I'm not sure he's ever been respected.

..."How much did the Department of Obvious Facts spend on this poll?" What's next, a poll asking "Are French fries fattening?"

as retribution for the deaths of 8 soldiers who may or may not have been on Lebanese soil when attacked. Sounds so Naziesque.

9. 6 in 10 say he isn't respected?
They're not paying attention. Little Boots isn't respected by any foreign leaders. They suck up to him because he lords the power of the U.S. over them, but respect? :eyes:

Edited on Wed Jul-26-06 06:31 PM by kenny blankenship
6 in 10 Americans understand Bush isn't respected by world leaders; but how much would you bet that number runs 9 out of 10, outside the borders of Sleepy Hollow?

13. Duh! You think calling to the British Prime Minister with "Yo, Blair!"...
...or massaging the shoulders of the German Chancellor might have something to do with it?

Not to mention he's a torturer, murderer, liar, thief, cheat, and all-around bad guy...

21. When Did "47%" Become Equated With "Generally Approve?"
I think "Almost Approve" would be a more accurate phrase.

But, not for nothin', if 47% of Americans think that President Bush is handling the crisis in the Middle East well, then that just proves to me that 47% of Americans don't have a clue about what's going on over there.

When did "Yo, Blair, wake me up when it's over!" become a favored foreign policy?

33. 47% unable to recognize another dismal failure through the smoke,
carnage and wreckage of a presidency composed of nothing but failure.

"More Americans (47 percent) said they approve of how Mr. Bush has handled the conflict so far than disapprove (27 percent), but one in four said it's too early to form an opinion."

Lebanon is a direct result of the preznits dismal Road Map policy failure. Hands off while Israel unravels bush's precious democracy-building in the ME is not the stuff success is made of. We will, once again, be paying for his incompetence with treasure and blood, and I don't think we can afford either.

another bullshit "poll" that should be worded as : 53 percent do not "approve"..
