Issa Opts Out of Calif. U.S. Senate Race

SAN FRANCISCO - Rep. Darrell Issa, who bankrolled the recall drive against Gov. Gray Davis, will not seek the Republican nomination to challenge Sen. Barbara Boxer, a spokesman said Tuesday.

Instead, Issa filed Tuesday afternoon to run for re-election to the House. "He is very committed and determined in his congressional work," spokesman Jonathan Wilcox said.

I guess he doesn't want to be the Rick Lazio of 2004 and get his ass kicked.
