amid allegations that he accepted Super Bowl
tickets from a lawyer whose dealings with the city
are being investigated by the FBI.
Corey Kemp gave two weeks' notice last week,
then quit abruptly Monday after telling his
supervisors that he was being hounded by the
media, said Barbara Grant, a spokeswoman for
Mayor John Street.
Kemp's office was one of several searched by FBI
agents following the Oct. 7 discovery that the
bureau had bugged the mayor's City Hall office
suite as part of a probe into possible city
government corruption.
Grant said the city is investigating allegations that
Kemp accepted Super Bowl tickets from Ronald A.
White, an attorney who has served as the city's
legal counsel on a number of multimillion-dollar
bond sales. The FBI seized several boxes of files
from White's office Oct. 16.
