Ohio Governor: Strickland 47%, Blackwell 27%
United States congressman Ted Strickland is leading in the Buckeye State’s gubernatorial race, according to the latest poll by the Columbus Dispatch. 47 per cent of respondents in Ohio would back the Democrat, while 27 per cent would vote for Republican state secretary Ken Blackwell.

Libertarian candidate Bill Peirce and Bob Fitrakis of the Green Party are also contending. A late June survey by Rasmussen Reports gave Strickland a 13-point edge over Blackwell.

30. My question precisely. What then? Will the Dems fight back?
Unfortunately, in Ohio it seems they've got most of the judiciary taken care of too. But maybe not all of them, I don't really know anything about it. Has our side had any success in court in Ohio?

34. Doesn't matter
if the OH courts decide that all the votes should be counted, the GOP will appeal to the Federal Courts, and SCOTUS if neccessary (FL 2000). The sane, civil part of the game has ended - we lost that part. We probably lost our chance for a mildly violent revolution when the 2004 "vote challengers" weren't forcibly removed by the local citizens.

I still have some hope that we can retake the country with a civil war. But in practice we'll probably be invaded by the 99% of the world that hates Smirk.

7. theyve been caught red handed before and gotten away with it.
a 20 point lead will myteriously become a narrow loss on election day.
nothing will happen. blackwell will be governor.

the will be 'some' polls showing the race closer, there will be all sorts of spin and propaganda campainging to muddle reality and the news media will be complicit.

22. Like "Kat woman" Harris the GOP is going to let them go down !
Blackell thought the GOP will swoop in an save his run, they won't he and Kat will be left holding the bag and in teh end be scapegoats for "who whould have know" investigation after the Dems take office in 2006. I called this in 04'that Ken and Kat would run as reward for what they did in FL. & OH. If the party was in trouble that they would be left out to dry and then sent up to protect the white house. You can see the hearings now Ken and Kat letting it all out, Rush and Coluter painting then as sore loserers being fronted by the left. It's going to get relly good in 07'

24. I doubt it..
.... the Republican machine is not going to lose the power to rig votes over a doofus like Blackwell.

They will have to get the pre-election polls within 5-6%, and I don't think they can do it.

We'll see.

27. Lose the power to rig vote?
What do you mean by this? It's not something that's going to go away due to overuse. They did it in FL in 2000. Then in 2002 they did it in FL, GA, and OH. In 2004 they stole the white house by rigging OH, and Jeb had the FBI going to black voters' houses and menacing them.

Their ability to rig elections isn't getting any weaker.

28. Well...
... I'm not interest in a long debate. I'm going to state my position and you are free to argue with the final word.

There is NO FUCKING WAY they can steal an election with widely-confirmed 10 point trail going in. And they are not stupid, the first time they try they are going to get caught and then the golden goose will be dead.

The ONLY WAY they have gotten away with this so far is that they did it by shaving a few points, leaving a shadow of doubt that anything dirty was done. The masses of Americans cannot fathom the idea of election fraud. But now there is a hint of suspicion and stealing 10 points would tip it from suspicion to outrage.

They might do it to an election that is REALLY important to them, just how would this one be so?

Certainly, if Blackwell is polling anywhere near where he is now, there is no way they are going to pull this off. That is what I believe.

Watch. They're in their War Room now trying to come up with plausible explanations as to why only four voting machines were placed in every democratic district in the state, while republicans were escorted in air conditioned limousines to a special polling places set up in fine restaurants and golf courses. And that Blackwell's win really just shows that Ohio residents are tired of tax and spend liberals. Or something. Just watch. These people aren't just morons. They're shameless morons.

Like in 2004? Or is that con off the table as they won't want to try it again for fear of appearing too obvious.

Warren Co. defends lockdown decision

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
FBI denies warning officials of any special threat

By Erica Solvig and Dan Horn
Enquirer staff writers

LEBANON - Warren County officials, facing scrutiny of their decision to lock down the administration building on election night, say they were responding to a terrorist threat that ranked a "10" on a scale of 1 to 10.

The information, which Commissioner Pat South said was previously deemed confidential, is coming out a week after the public was barred from viewing the Warren County vote count. The Ohio Secretary of State's office doesn't know of any other county in the state to impose such a restriction.

County officials initially said they feared that having reporters and photographers present could interfere with the ballot counting. They subsequently cited homeland security concerns.

Now, they say an FBI agent told them that Warren County ranked a "10" on a terrorism scale. However, state and federal homeland security officials said Tuesday they were unaware of any specific threat against the county.

8. Great news!
You can tell the GOP is worried--their smear machine is in full force now:
http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060723/NEWS09/607230348/-1/NEWS

"The Ohio Republican Party's newly hired "social conservative coordinator" e-mailed an undisclosed group of "pro-family friends" this week, offering a 10-point introduction to Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ted Strickland.

His message attacked the church attendance, work ethic, and voting record of Mr. Strickland, a southeast Ohio congressman and ordained Methodist minister. It alleged Mr. Strickland and his wife of nearly 20 years live in different states - and linked to an Internet posting that questions whether Mr. Strickland is gay."

Holy cow, an internet posting! That's a definitive source! ;)

because they will have already been taken home for calibration. Did you see yesterday on DU that the Election Commission in Alaska still will not let the democrats have the election results even though investigation showed hundreds of thousands of extra votes. 20. This will be the norm by 2008
only the very bluest of states will have honest elections. The fascists will not be stopped.

IMO, the only way to firght this is to reverse the procedure. Make sure that blue-state Repubs like Snowe and Chaffee get the boot, regardless of how the actual vote turns out. If we start to have massive fraud in our favor, then the election system will finaly get a thorough overhaul.
