Blast at Italy's mission in Iraq
Last Updated: Wednesday, 26 November, 2003, 23:30 GMT
Blast at Italy's mission in Iraq

The Italian mission in Baghdad has been hit by rocket or mortar fire, Italian officials say.

The offices were empty and no one was injured in the blast, at 2300 (2030 GMT), a foreign ministry official said.

Italian forces and officials in Iraq have been on high alert since a suicide attack on an Italian base in southern Iraq two weeks ago.

Nineteen Italians died in the attack in the town of Nasiriya - Italy's biggest loss since World War II.

1. You know, this sounds like a war zone....
Not like a "mission accomplised" zone.

3. No, no...that wasn't a rocket...it was...a meteorite! That's it!...
...a meteorite! No...maybe it was hail? Unidentified flying object? Kid throwing rocks? Gotta check my "cover story file" when I get back to the palace this afternoon.

The mission is STILL accomplished, dammit! You Italians get back in there!! You reporters have about 2 seconds to get away from there before I unleash Hell!!

6. Berlusconi isn't in Iraq and he doesn't give a rat's patooie
The Italian soldiers are stuck, like our troops, in an ever-widening quagmire. See how fast this war would end if the politicians were over there. Coalition of the willing, not!
