China's Alternative To DVD
If I were an entertainment industry executive, I'd worry less about college students sharing files on the Internet and more about what's happening in China.

The Chinese government just announced a government-funded project to develop an alternative to the DVD. Called "EVD" (for "enhanced versatile disc"), the new format is reported to be technically superior to DVD, especially for recording and showing high definition television programs (HDTV).

Normally, I don't get too worked up over a new recording or storage format, especially when it's competing with an already entrenched standard such as DVD or CD. But every other time I've reported on a new standard, it was being pushed by a company or, at most, a consortium of companies. It's extremely difficult for a few companies -- even when it includes the likes of Sony or IBM -- to overturn an entrenched standard, but we're not talking about companies here.

For all of the people asleep, busy, playing, idiots(Bush), China is the sleeping lion. Nothing is going to stop China. The only thing China lacks in it's people is flashy creativity but that will come within the decade. The Government is shat but the people are smart, friendly, work hard/long hours, have an internal drive for wealth... economically they're going to kick butt while we are making dead-end weapons of mass destruction and our manufacturing base continues year over year to decline, now at 11% (excluding farm) and WMD must be 4%? of the 11%.

If you hadn't noticed, most every hostpital you've been to for the last 20 years has heads of depts. who are Chinese. Let's not discuss all our research labs and university depts. And this all occurred when there went any universities or equipment in China. I'm just amazed our GOP leadership is dumping our money on killing, killing equipment when we're is really really seriously having our national security threatened to the point of no return. In my opinion the way the US could prevent this from happening is to attack China. Or our Power Elite will buy their companies quickly and the Power Elite will become Chinese citizens.

If you've never been to China, you have no idea what economic storm is coming our way! At least I'm learning Chinese so I can translate for the soon to come prisoners in Guantanamo Bay!

1. Just like that?
'let's go attack China?'

Are you mad?

China has nukes...and delivery systems...and even if it lost half it's people it would still have a billion of em.

Not to mention the fact they aren't doing anything to you, other than competing economically....just what you've preached for years in fact.

Had you given any thot to economic competiton?

It's a global world. Get used to it.

Sheesh!

2. The "Power Elite" is completely aware and involved in China.
Ever hear of the "US - China Chamber of Commerce"? Their chairman has a name that will somehow seem familiar.......

Prescott Bush Jr. That would be him on the right (no coincidence). And of course, the guy on the left is his better known brother Poppy

5. The Octopus is everywhere
The namesake of grandpop Prescott, the infamous Nazi banker, who has been missing in US Media Action for many long years.

The BFEE really ought to hold a big "Prescott Bush Festival" so we can celebrate these illustrious souls and all that they have done for themselves and their spawn over the decades.

Our kids might be smart to learn Chinese because it will be the language of commerce in 20 years.

It is amazing place to be....the energy and the drive of the people is simply amazing. Everyone seems to be sold on capitalism and small wonder after 50 years of stagnating communism. I really like the poeople there, they are incredibly friendly and most really look to the West with respect and desire for peaceful partnership. I have met no nationalists there (only in Taiwan).

Here's a factoid to consider-

China produces 700 BILLION bricks a year . That's enough bricks to circle the globe 1700 times. Bricks are the primary construction block in China....a single story house or 50 story skyscraper.
