US forces kill Iraqi motorist 'in error'

US occupation soldiers have shot dead an Iraqi motorist “in error” in the northern city of Kirkuk.

Thursday’s killing is the sixth such incident in recent months, said police.

Riad Khalas Abd Allah, 25, was driving at a normal speed 150 metres from one of a series of US checkpoints around the heavily guarded main square when the soldiers opened fire, said Police Major Adnan Muhammad Sadr.

2. Just found out my younger cousin is going to Iraq in February...

He's started training. Part of what they teach you is not to stop your vehicle for anything...not other vehicles, not emergencies, not small children in the road. I know that ambushes are hardly rare in Iraq, but he had a real problem with being told to run over children...

I remember the times, when American soldiers were here in Germany. (I know there are still American troops in Germany, but not where I live)
We children loved every single one, they were our heroes, our friends. And now they´re tought not to stop for small children in the streets. Makes me sad.

I dislike this occupation as much as many people here, but sadly, the authorities are correct on this one.

That doesn't excuse when some little kid got pretty famously run over by a Bradley or other armored vehicle several months ago; it got some serious press because the APC never slowed even.. now why is this different? It's an APC. It was traveling on a highway. No attempt was made to even avoid the kid. Assuming the kid was seen, the threat level to the APC would have been laughably low.

A Hummer inside Mosul, though? Very dangerous to stop. Also keep in mind the air strikes to terrorize the population. A certain percentage of a terrorized population wants to strike back badly enough to actively search for a way...

5. Don't forget that we are also abducting family members

of insurgency leaders in Iraq to "persuade" them to turn themselves in. We kidnap women and children, yet they are the terrorists.
