Sheldon and Anita Drobny have dropped their interest in a "liberal" talk radio network. But Regional host Ed Schultz from the upper plains and midwestern states is set to become the cornerstone of the national network, Mark Walsh, who is also a former America Online executive, said his investors' group bought the proposed network from the venture capitalists who started AnShell Media LLC in February. The purchase price was not announced. At the time, Sheldon and Anita Drobny said they had lined up $10 million and hoped to be on the air by this fall. But the Drobnys never hired any talent, purchased any stations or signed any distribution contracts, the Associated Press reports. Mr. Walsh, who once served as the DNC's chief technology adviser, expects to be broadcasting by early next year.
Ed Schultz, now with KFGO's "News and Views" edkfgo@aol.com -A Clear channel Radio Network station –with 50,000 listeners – is heard weekdays, 9-11:30am (Statewide on KKXL in Grand Forks, KFYR in Bismarck, KLTC in Dickinson, KCJB in Minot, and KKAA in Aberdeen.

Ed is aggressive, well researched and opinionated. And until recently, Ed Schultz was best known as the familiar, progressive voice of talk radio at KFGO in Fargo, N.D. But since announcing his affiliation with Democracy Radio, Inc., Schultz has begun to emerge as the new, progressive voice in national talk radio.
Schultz is an award-winning talent, programmer and radio manager with more than 20 years of radio and TV experience. He is considered one of the most accomplished media personalities in the history of the Dakotas and the Midwest.
For over 10 years, Schultz has been delivering compelling talk-radio in Fargo, N.D., through his popular morning talk show, “News and Views” – where he is the No. 1 broadcaster on the No. 1 talk radio station in America as defined by audience share.
The show reaches into seven states and provides news on a national level along with caller interaction and commentary. With a reputation for challenging the issues, Schultz is regarded as “the high profile broadcaster of the upper Midwest.”
For his work on KFGO-Fargo, Schultz has won numerous prestigious awards in the radio industry including the Peabody and the Marconi. In addition to “News and Views,” Ed offers regular sports news, commentary and is the football play-by-play announcer for the University of North Dakota.
Schultz holds the one-season NCAA college football passing record as a quarterback for Moorhead State University (now Minnesota State University-Moorhead) and is a former quarterback for the Oakland Raiders. Schultz and his wife, Wendy, live in Fargo. They have 6 children. Schultz, who had considered a run for governor of North Dakota, would commence the show in January, and Jones Radio Networks has signed on to syndicate the program Schultz said ownership of the new talk show will be divided among himself, Democracy Radio, Jones Radio and Media Syndication Services, a radio production company.
Warning: Schultz at least knows the awards that have come his way – but this PR by Jones Network is like O'Reilly – The Ed Schultz claim as his own the Peabody and two Marconi’s awarded KFGO radio may seem a stretch to the right wing - while the 1997 Peabody did indeed list Ed Schultz on a list of people singled out for praise, it was station KFGO that received two Marconi awards in 1997, one for "Station of the Year by Format," and one for "Station of the Year by Market Size.".

Medicare....
I ask, where is the victory? We are plunging into a more record deficit area, and nobody seems to be asking the questions anymore. Have we checked lately what the real price tag is?
Bush and his so-called fiscal responsibile republican hard right base that clammers about a bright future for America has driven this country to the brink of financial ruin. Don't tell me deficits don't matter. They now preach about how the economy is turning around despite the fact the jobs aren't following in order. Check the earnings in the last several weeks of major companies. They are off.
The medicare bill has pork filling the pockets of Bush supporters in an election year. Does that smell to anybody? All of a sudden fixing medicare becomes a priority for this administration, and it goes far beyond what the democrats were talking about. This has gone from a drug benefit to the total revamping of a social system that, for the most part, has worked.
It's the cost of drugs, not the current medicare system that needed the fixing and adjusting. So the Bush team took it so far, they found a great way to line their pockets with campaign helpers who would benefit from this bill. They threw enough bennies out there for some democrats to vote for it and it passed the senate 54 to 44. I understand who gets helped in the rural areas, but it also gives the hard right a victory in states that were leaning away from Bush.
Don't bet on the republicians thanking those democrats for siding with the administration on this bill. That's not their makeup. All the democrats did was help the Bush folks and make it tougher to win the White House in 04.
