Chavez Foes Start Petition Campaign (referendum on ouster)

CARACAS -- After fruitless months of protests and a punishing national
strike, opponents of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez launched a signature
campaign Friday that they hope will lead to his removal.

... Pollsters and analysts said it is likely that the
four-day campaign will collect enough
signatures--at least 2.4 million, or 20 percent of the electorate--to trigger a binding referendum on his
presidency next spring.

... More than 60,000 soldiers in full combat gear along with about 60 international observers from the
Organization of American States and the U.S.-based Carter Center monitored the signature drive, which
began at 6 a.m. in 2,700 centers nationwide.

1. The Bush administration will not give up its efforts to remove Chavez
Edited on Sat Nov-29-03 08:16 AM by JudiLyn
(snip) His fingerprints are all over the perimeter of the crime. The disgraceful disinformation campaign carried out by the private Venezuelan media; the siege of the Cuban embassy in Caracas; the false resignation of President Chavez and his alleged plea for asylum in Cuba: everything bears the stamp of Otto Reich.

The former top official in the Reagan regime, buddy of the most fanatical anti-Cuba terrorists and now--incredibly-- the number one man for Latin America in the U.S. administration, he has personally and clearly masterminded the subversive plans that have just failed in Caracas.

Recruited by the CIA while he was still in the university, Reich was a specialist in deception during the Reagan administration. Reagan's vice president, George Bush was a former operative and then head of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

From his Office of Public Diplomacy, Reich covered up all the dirtiest operations of the war in Nicaragua, circulating false information through the media.

http://www.counterpunch.org/allard0420.html

We are STILL being fed false information through our media on Venezuela, and we are NOT getting the entire truth. Even our own New York Times had their Venezuelan based reporter covering this debacle resigning due to conflict of interest.

Bush's ambassador, Charles Shapiro, offered to enlist aid from the U.S. in this recall operation. That should strictly be forbidden. It's none of his or Bush's business.

Also, someone posted here in the last couple of days the information that in the last recall, supervisors in companies were personally escorting their employees to sign petitions, with every implication their jobs depended on it.

As soon as our right-wing Presidents get a sense of perspective and decide to stop flexing their muscles, and shoving small, less dangerous countries around, the entire planet's going to be doing a whole lot better.

2. Hmmmm...............Bush's crimes in broad daylight w/no humility.
Use the distraction of talking turkey with the GIs in Iraq
while "back stabbing strateegeries" are enacted elsewhere.

5. If this is Bush's doing, why is James Carville helping?
Venezuela's embattled private sector is banking on the colorful U.S. political consultant James Carville to help oust leftist President Hugo Chavez. The hire may herald an effort by the anti-Chavistas to focus more on the issues than on personality.

According to several individuals with knowledge of the matter, a group of business executives contracted with Mr. Carville this year to craft a strategy that will unify a fractious and frustrated Chavez opposition and resonate with voters in a possible recall referendum. The executives are hoping that Mr. Carvillethe folksy, 59-year-old Democratic Party consultant from Louisiana known as the Ragin' Cajunwill push a variation of his "It's the economy, stupid" theme that helped propel Bill Clinton to victory in 1992. But analysts say Mr. Carville and his clients face a formidable challenge.

9. Why does Woody Allen star in Japanese whiskey commercials?
For the money.

Carville's consultancy only cares that your money is green.

And, unfortunately, the poor people in the slums can't afford his retainer.

3. The story of President Chavez and Venezuela
This has been completely absent from the mainstream media.

It may well be the most important story of the early 21st century when all is said and done.

There is a hell of a lot riding on the outcome of the situation in Venezuela that will resonate for decades.

If most Americans only knew the full story of what is happening in Venezuela....

4. Article from venezuelanalysis.com from yesterday plus Greg Wilperts
article reminding everyone to pay attention to Venezuela at this crucial time. Among other dirty tricks, the opposition is trying to force their employees to sign the referendum to recall Chavez. More at this thread

8. Maybe like California, every private "news" station will lie 24-7
to the people about what's going on and people will be so uninformed they'll vote the wrong way, like they did in California.

11. Again with these social miscreants
They loved raping Venezuela for so long, now they won't leave the government to operate. Look at this laughable article:

"After fruitless months of protests and a punishing national
strike,..."

Oh, you forgot to mention the failed military fucking coup which caused their leaders to flee the fucking country, now didn't you?!? Very nice background information...:eyes:

Puh-leez. The oligarchs and their petit bourgeois lackeys need to shut the fuck up, for once, for precious once.
