America to mediate in Kony war

By Emma Mutaizibwa, Sheila C. Kulubya & Henry Ssali
Nov 29, 2003

PARLIAMENT - The United States government is mediating between the governments of Uganda and Sudan to resolve the Kony insurgency, minister of Defence Amama Mbabazi said yesterday.

Mbabazi told a plenary debate chaired by Deputy Speaker Ms Rebecca Kadaga that in a historical break through, the Sudan government is responding positively.

"Together with the Americans, we are for the first time involved with the Sudan government to find a solution towards the LRA conflict. I am happy with the efforts of the Sudan government," he said.
