("They Lied to Us") Tucson Mom Heads to Iraq
Edited on Sun Nov-30-03 11:54 AM by DUreader

Tucson parents Anabelle and Jesús Valencia sat next to each other in the living
room of their South Side home Friday afternoon, quietly sifting through the cards
and letters sent to them by a son and daughter stationed in Iraq.

Until now the Valencias have depended on the letters - along with increasingly grim
media reports - to learn about the war being fought by their children.

But on Sunday, Anabelle
Valencia expects to arrive in
Baghdad.

Valencia will join others around
the country who will leave their
hometowns today, forming a
small delegation with other
relatives of servicemen to bring
a message of friendship for the
people of Baghdad. They also
will bring doubts about the United
States' involvement in Iraq and
the Bush administration's
handling of the war.

1. How much you wanna bet
that they will not be allowed to see their son and daughter...I bet none of these parents will be allowed to enter Iraq at all...

Is the media picking up on this...?

2. I would venture to say
that they would not have the protection that was given our most 'powerful man in the world'. I do wish they would not put their lives in jeapordy in such a futile attempt to save more lives. If there is a god, may that god protect them from harm.

3. My husband is losing his pain doctor
today. He's leaving for Iraq. He like almost everyone else in the military tried to get out of the guard but they won't let anyone out. He use to be proud to serve and was a Vietnam Vet. This war has changed alot of people's opinions.

4. During the Korean war
the dentist I worked for (married with a new child) was called in from the reserves. He was a WW2 vet. The military is in dire need of medical professionals to treat all those unsung soldiers who have been wounded in Bush's war to bring peace to the world.

5. it'd be nice to know what congressmen (no women?) wrote
those letters of support. i also wonder how many other family members will now plan to make a trip over there to see for themselves. will they be 'hosted' or 'guided' or how exactly will this work? the article could have done a better job. lets hope someone else picks it up.

6. The administration has to be behind this...how else would they get clear
to make this trip. I bet these people are being used and don't realize it.
