Democratic challenger Webb pulls ahead of GOP Senator Allen by one point i
http://www.rawstory.com/news/2006/Democratic_challenger_Webb_pulls_ahead_of_0827.html

Democratic challenger James Webb, former Navy secretary under President Reagan, has pulled ahead of Virginia's Republican Senator Allen by one percentage point in the latest Zogby poll, RAW STORY has learned.

The poll also puts Democrats in front for 14 out of the open 19 gubernatorial races. But the Democratic Party only leads 12 of the 18 Senate races, which wouldn't be enough to regain the majority even accounting for Vermont's independent Senator Jim Jeffords and Connecticut's Joe Lieberman who Zogby shows leading primary winner Ned Lamont by ten points.

"The race in Virginia saw a significant turnaround: Democratic challenger James Webb inched to a one percentage point lead over incumbent Senator George Allen, who was ahead eleven percentage points in the July Zogby poll," reports the Wall Street Journal website.

I get paid Thursday - been splitting a donation to Bob Casey (my home state) and a Dem I pick each pay - I know where this donation is going!

1. Amazing!
Allen looked rock solid until "Macaca-gate." Now he could be taken out!

And he thought he was gonna run for president.

4. Allen's racial/ethnic slur was bad in its own right, but the taunting
attitude he took when delivering it was what really frosted me.

I didn't like him at all to begin with. I like him a lot less now.

Go, Jim Webb.

6. Up until yesterday I was ignoring this race
Then I took a look at Webb's website, and WOW! Where has this guy been hiding from? His war record puts John Kerry to shame, and his record of service in the Reagan White House gives him additional credibility in a very pro-military state. He has definitely made a race out of it, and he just might be able to pull it out.
