Inhofe, his aide safe after plane crash-lands
U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe and an aide escaped injury Thursday when the small plane the Oklahoma Republican was flying spun out of control after landing at Tulsa's Jones Riverside Airport.

"No scrapes or bruises. No nicks or cuts. No injuries at all," said Danny Finnerty, Inhofe's long-time aide, who was sitting behind the senator in the two-seat aircraft.

"We walked away from the plane."

Finnerty, reached by telephone, said they landed about 8 p.m. and that the plane had slowed down to about taxi speed.

24. I didn't read the article in the OP, but just heard he ground-looped....
...at Jones-Riverside in Tulsa. That's the airport I flew my first solo flight. karlrschneider, I'm sure, knows the airport well (it, in 1990, was known as the busiest airport in OK because of the flight schools there).

5. Hmmm...
So the friggin' idjit ground looped, did he? Hard to do with a tricycle gear plane, but, after listening to Inhofe-perhaps the stupidest thing on two feet-I suppose he could pull it off.

20. Didn't know that.
Although I have not done much flying for a lot of years, most of the time I have was in tail draggers.

I listened to that fathead's speech, in honor of "energy" companies, dissing global warming and concluded he was as dumb as McConnell or one of the biggest lying shits on the continent--or both.

I had my first solo there (I attended the Robertson Flight school). Mark Wiley was my CFI & Deanna ran the school at that time. :hi:

27. Yep, I did some instructing at RVS years ago when it was quite new.
Hung out at Harvey Young mostly until I got my commercial & instrument then got a job flying for
a company. I'm semi-retired but still do a gig when somebody needs a replacement pilot. :D

30. I wonder who does his maintenance?
This makes it a lot more interesting! I noticed it said the bird had fore & aft seating. But that is a nice aircraft, plus he has a Stearman, too! I hate him even more!

6. Maybe the Senator should let someone ELSE fly the plane
He's 71...heck, get someone to do the landings for him, anyway. And this is strike two, as well:

The senator was forced to make an emergency landing in 1999 at the Claremore Municipal Airport after the propeller fell off the Grumman American AA-5B he was flying.

16. Who the hell is servicing this plane for him?
Prop falling off???? That sure sounds like a failure at the maintenance level to me!

I can't wait to hear what the ruling by the NTSB is this time!!!!

7. No wonder there's such a stench in town today.
I'm glad he's OK, but it sure would be nice for Oklahomans if he'd go find something else to do. He's done NOTHING for the people of Oklahoma. NOTHING.

I guess Inhofe's evil purpose in life wasn't done yet and Satan wasn't quite ready to receive his minion.

32. The Greatest Loss Of All!!!

The "Big Bopper"... The night the music died!

From Wiki:

Jiles Perry (J.P.) Richardson, Jr. (October 24, 1930 – February 3, 1959), called Jape by friends but commonly known as The Big Bopper, was a disc jockey who parlayed a big voice and exuberant personality into a career as an early rock and roll star. He is best known for his hit song "Chantilly Lace".

Please take a moment to read his short bio on Wiki, a very interesting and vastly talented young man, it truly was the night the music died....

36. I "hate" who he is politically, but no one deserves to die in a plane
crash.

I'm glad he's okay. And all those who were with him, including the flight crew.

Death wishes are ugly things. I don't wish anyone's death.

Instead, I hope for changes of heart, mind and soul.
