Howard Dean talks up Democrats, goes door-to-door in Portland
PORTLAND, Maine — Howard Dean talked up Democrats, talked down Republicans and went door-to-door in a Portland neighborhood on Monday to rally Democrats for the upcoming election.

Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Committee and a former Vermont governor, and Maine Gov. John Baldacci spoke to about 150 people at a breakfast fundraiser at the Italian Heritage Center before knocking on doors in a heavily Democratic Munjoy Hill neighborhood.

Accompanied by a gaggle of reporters and cameras, Dean and Baldacci stopped at four houses to tout the Democratic message.

One of them was owned by Jon Radtke, a high school teacher who said it´s important for Democrats to conduct a grass-roots effort to remind voters what´s at stake in the Nov. 7 election.

1. It's great to see Democrats
Actually getting out into the community and meeting people face to face. We have always done much more to take our message to the people. What we need, though, is to more agressively take it to the "red" states and neighborhoods. People are generally very responsive to a live human being answering their questions and debunking their misconceptions. A lot of people are just turned off by sound bites and television/radio advertisements.

5. How COOL! Who wouldn't be overjoyed to open his/her door only
to see Howard Dean standing there!

He's a damned fantastic sport to keep on going after the dirty trick played on him just as his campaign caught fire. He would have been unstoppable without it.

Hope he gets full satisfaction in time, as people like me will NEVER be happy until he is avenged! He's one fine Democrat. What a wonderful, giving, enthusiastic man.
