Iraq Needs Foreign Troops To Remain Indefinitely: Iraqi Spokesman

Iraq needs foreign troops to remain in the country indefinitely, until its own forces are in a position to combat the increasingly deadly insurgency, the government spokesman said Oct. 12.

”We believe that the presence of the multinational force is necessary now to prepare Iraqi forces to combat terror and improve the lives of Iraqis,” Ali Dabagh told a press conference.

”The government considers that Iraqi security forces still need to be trained and reinforced. Hence, we have the need for units that will assure this training in Iraq. The multinational force should participate in the building of Iraqi forces,” without saying when that would be achieved.

On Oct. 11, the U.S. Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Peter Schoomaker, said his service has enough troops in its planned force rotations to maintain current troop levels in Iraq through 2010.

2. I hate that for him. But we need to get our troops to get out now.
See, that would improve the lives of Americans.

The thing is, the Iraqi leadership wants us there forever to continue pouring our money down their Iraqhole and putting our military at their disposal for defending themselves against their own people. The vast majority of Iraqis, however, think we should get out right now. I couldn't agree more.

3. Oh, Iraq has an army now? I thought Bush had them all tossed out onto
the streets to starve or form militia groups. Oh, wait, this is the New Iraqi Army. The one that is either a death squad or else merely salary collectors...

Looks like Messrs. Bush, Cheney, Wolfowitz, etc. have done gone and made a country FUBAR to me.

4. That's just so sick it's hilarious. The troops are doing so damn
much good now, aren't they?

I doubt that it is going to get better if they stay longer.

What a bunch of asses.
