Independent filmmaker Ron Galloway has resigned from the board of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. ’s advocacy group Working Families for Wal-Mart.
Galloway, who produced a documentary last year praising the company at the same time that critics were becoming more vocal, told the Los Angeles Times that he was troubled by Wal-Mart’s plan to set wage caps for hourly employees.
But announcements Wednesday from Working Families for Wal-Mart and the Bentonville-based retail giant say the reason for Galloway’s departure is a difference of opinion on environmental issues.
Galloway left the national steering committee of Working Families for Wal-Mart over policy differences, group spokesman Kevin Sheridan told the Los Angeles Times.
