Clinton says right wing has hurt U.S., predicts win by Democrats
By KATHLEEN HENNESSEY
ASSOCIATED PRESS

LAS VEGAS (AP) - The nation has been "jammed into an ideological corner" by conservative Republicans and is primed for a power shift in the November elections, former President Bill Clinton said Thursday.

"This is an election unlike any other I have ever participated in," Clinton told Democratic supporters at a fundraiser in Las Vegas. "For six years this country has been totally dominated - not by the Republican Party, this is not fair to the Republican Party - by a narrow sliver of the Republican Party, its more right-wing and its most ideological element."

"When the chips are down, this country has been jammed to the right, jammed into an ideological corner, alienated from its allies, and we're in a lot of trouble," he said.

Clinton addressed a group of about 50 top-level donors to the Jack Carter for Senate campaign. Carter, the son of former President Jimmy Carter, is running to unseat Republican Sen. John Ensign....

The Democratic Party has become the liberal and conservative party in America. If you want to be fiscally conservative, you've got to be for us. If you want to conserve natural resources, you've got to be for us," he said. "If you want a change of course in Iraq ... you've got to be for us."...

1. I'm sure the right wing will blame Clinton for the damage Republicans
have done.

It's all Clintons fault, because he was for it before he was against it, and liberal moonbats wear tin foil hats Ted Kennedy killed a woman and as the Iraqis stand up we'll stand down because if our troops come home terrorists will follow them and Al Gore said he invented the internet because Kerry said terrorists were just a nuisance and liberals just need to get over it and their war on christmas or their war on easter shows that Dean screamed and George Soros gives money to moveon.org who wants us to cut and run rather than adapt to win then Jane Fonda stood near John Kerry and they have no ideas as activist judges want to kill snowflake babies in addition what about the busses, the busses, and they hate us for our freedoms 9/11 changed everything this is a new kind of war that we fight over there so we don't have to fight them here it's a dangerous world and Democrats want to deal with terrorism with law enforcement pass a global test and wait for them to attack us before we attack them in addition There was no torture at Abu Grahib, just silly fraternity pranks and it`s liberal wussies who make a big deal out of nothing and George Bush flew secret missions during the Vietnam War unlike Democrats who never served because they were too busy throwing other soldier`s medals over walls or having secret meetings with Jane Fonda and who says this economy isn`t great just because a few million people put groceries on their charge cards and so what if people are facing foreclosures at a record rate and global warming is a big, fat lie because ice shelves always melt anyhow no matter what and why shouldn`t we be in Iraq because how else are we going to get the oil we`ve won and Democrats never go to church and they hate God and they teach their children marry their own cousins and none of them work because they`re all Socialists who hate freedom but love terrorists.

13. God Damn...
That's a keeper.

The truly sad thing is that there is nothing new in this rant. It could literally be ripped from Faux Newz.

2. This right on the heels of General Wesley Clark's speech which
...called the Bush administration "derelict in its duty" to protect the country and the American people.

3. Clinton coming to Chicago
To work for Duckworth and Bean, the two top targets of the GOP nationwide. Bush just raised about a million for their opponents, who were already well-funded, so this is big news. Obama is stumping for both this month as well, and other heavy-hitters are expected this month.

5. Hm... it's not that Clinton was eager to talk about that
before it was politically safe to do so.
Gore and Dean did it back in 2002, 2003 2004. Where was Clinton then?
Kissing up to the Bushes.

Now the Reps are in trouble and Clinton discovered that the Earth is round. How convenient.

6. Unlike Gore and Dean, Bill Clinton is Mr. President
A former President has to be careful. Additionally, he has a wife who is a Senator; ergo, caution is the rule. On this forum a day or so ago, there was a thread berating Clinton for not speaking up. Just can't please everybody, can you?

12. Clinton did campaign in the years you note, and he had a few
choice words for the R's at that time. That said, he should have defended himself on terrorism much sooner than he did, but because he waited he had more credibility so?

16. There's some evidence he was quiet at Gore's request.
Back in those days don't forget there were still all these reverberations from impeachment and I think Gore was trying to distance himself from that. At that time few conceived that after Clinton Bush would feel like the apocalypse on two legs.

15. My daughter is going to a fundraiser with Bill Clinton for
Governor Doyle in Wisconsin. She has been selling brownies and cookies to raise enough money to see him speak. She was in grade school when he was President. She turned to me one day, and said she would like to meet him. She is looking forward to listening to him speak, I don't know if she will actually meet him, but this is the next best thing.

17. The BIG DOG knew when to kick down the door.
The BIG DOG knew the right moment to kick down the door and go on the attack. When Prissy Chrissy thought he could use the BIG DOG as his personal outhouse, well that little PRE$$TITUTE got the reaming of his life from BIG DOG. BIG DOG knew the right time and place to go on the attack and he's showing everyone that he's still got it. He's had his Howard Beale moment, he's mad as hell and he AIN'T gonna take it anymore!

18. No, Bill, it's not a "power shift", merely a potential hiccup
Until the fundamentals of what's wrong in our country are addressed (media consolidation, gerry mandering, vote fraud, corporate control of Washington), we're far short of a "power shift."

If the fundamentals aren't addressed, 2006 may simply be a hiccup before further Right Wing Republican regression in 2006.
