Dems Have Clear Shot at DeLay's Seat
PEARLAND, Texas (AP) - Voting Republican in this conservative district was never difficult when Tom DeLay's name was on the ballot. With DeLay out of the race and the GOP unable by law to substitute a name on the ballot, voters must write in the Republican candidate, Houston City Councilwoman Shelley Sekula-Gibbs. That could prove to be such a chore that Democrats might walk away with a seat that has long been in the GOP's hands.

Cynthia Hart, a straight-ticket Republican and mother of three in suburban Houston, said she was unaware she would have to write in the Republican candidate.

"I guess I have to be more careful," Hart said. "But I'm not so sure I would take the time to go through all that."

That's welcome news to Democrats who see a real chance for capturing the former House majority leader's seat, a gain that could help them wrest control of the House from the GOP. Democrats need to gain 15 seats to seize the majority.

4. Well, the GOP are notoriously pisspoor spellers
So if they aren't handing out stickers to affix to the ballots (assuming that is legal there, it is in some places) they'll have to rely on mouth-breathers being able to spell THREE names of a candidate correctly...

If they put down Shelly Secula-Gibs, or Sheley Sikula-Gibbes, Or Shely Sackula-Jibbs, instead of Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, well, they've screwed it up....heh heh......might as well have just stayed home!

And this dipshit is short on money, which suggests the GOP ain't feeling her love, and she's got a platform of rotted wood to stand up on:

National Republicans were supposed to invest $3 million to $4 million to help Sekula-Gibbs, according to state Republican chairwoman Tina Benkiser. So far, however, she's received just $134,000 from the National Republican Congressional Committee. .... Sekula-Gibbs strongly supports the war in Iraq, opposes abortion and favors building a fence and stationing the National Guard at the Mexican border to stop illegal immigration.

And it wouldn't be a bad idea to play this up big-time:

Although Lampson gets low marks from conservative groups, he secured the endorsement of the National Rifle Association, a prize among Texas candidates.

Hey, the NRA says VOTE LAMPSON....!!!

Whatever it takes...!

6. We also had a clear shot....
in '04 but the National Dem Party sat on money that could have been used against DeLay. The district had been redrawn and he was weak. I would have been more impressed in '04.

To me, that just shows how far the DEM Leadership has their head up their ass. Folks inside the beltway just don't get it. Our leaders still think they are the majority party. They have forgotten HOW to fight.

They think we here in the blogesphere are the extreme lefty. We are not! They have just forgotten what a REAL Democrat really looks and sounds like. We don't kiss GOP butt and we call them on their lies.
