Archdiocese Confirms Foley's Alleged Abuser

The Archdiocese of Miami has confirmed that the Reverend Anthony Mercieca is the person Mark Foley says abused him as a teen.

The associated press is reporting the archdiocese received the name in an e-mail from state prosecutors, who got it from Foley's lawyers.

Mercieca now lives in Malta and a diocese there has opened an investigation after he said he fondled and shared saunas while naked with Foley when the former congressman was a boy in Florida.

In interviews in the past two days, Mercieca has given different details about his encounters with Foley four decades ago. But in all the interviews, he denies having sexual intercourse with Foley.
