Environmental policy took center stage in this year's congressional races on Tuesday, with candidates for U.S. Senate holding dueling news conferences across the state and former Vice President Al Gore expressing incredulity at Republican Rep. Dave Reichert's views on global warming.

"C'mon! And this man is a United States congressman?" asked Gore. "You know, 15 percent of people believe the moon landing was staged on some movie lot and a somewhat smaller number still believe the Earth is flat. They get together on Saturday night and party with the global-warming deniers."

After speaking at KeyArena on Monday night, Gore attended a downtown Seattle fundraiser for congressional Democrats on Tuesday and a private book signing for Starbucks employees.

The fundraiser at the Washington Athletic Club raised nearly $600,000, setting a record for a Seattle event by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

3. We were a Key Arena..

and saw him. Actually liked the DVD better, but hearing him in person was great. He was animated and passionate, even doing a presentation he's done a million times before.

Our surrogate granddaughter was with us and we were all curious as to why he wasn't that animated during the 2000 campaign.

Our collective best answer was that his handlers didn't want him to rock the boat even a little.

Too bad..... we could have used a guy like that in the WH.

6. I don't know, the mass corporate media did a good job of brain washing

a sizable percent of the American People, including Tennessee, however with the curtain slowly being pulled back revealing the man who would bring "integrity and honor" back to the White House for the corrupt, incompetent, fraud that he is, we may be waking up here.

8. Well, in 2000 electon, Ford didn't necessarily support Gore. Especially the

recount.

I'll never forget his desire to sweep this under the rug.
Ford plays both sides and you have to keep one eye open with him.
I don't think Gore would support Ford enthusiastically.

Yeah -- throw in a bunch of "deep gas" enthusiasts (the crowd who believe that petroleum actually seeps upward from vast undiscovered biospheres hidden in the earth's crust), and the dance floor will be hopping!

It will be the first time since the 8th District was created that a Democrat has represented it, if Darcy Burner defeats Reichert.

That R behind his name is a mighty albatross indeed.
