Democratic candidate courts Arab Americans
December 8, 2003

Democratic presidential candidate Gen. Wesley Clark made a quick stop in Michigan on Sunday to court Arab-American leaders and attend fund-raisers at private homes in Dearborn and Franklin.
It was the retired four-star general's second campaign visit to Michigan.
Morethan 200 cheering supporters greeted Clarkoutside the Aircraft Service International Group airplane hangar in Romulus, where his airplane landed about 5 p.m. Clark, whose wife, Gert, joined him for his visit, said during the rally that Bush is polarizing and divisive. After the rally, Clark met with about 23 local Arab-American leaders in the home of Dearborn attorney Michael Berry.
"I think he is very passionate and has a good vision," said Imad Hamad, regional director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee. He said he attended the gathering and supported most of what Clark said about civil rights, Iraq and the Arab-Israeli conflict.
"I think everybody was impressed with his views," Hamad said. More

I also checked out the Clark rally yesterday and considering how cold it was, the turnout was pretty good. Clark's speech was a short and sweet summation of what the chimp has done to screw with our democracy throughout his appointment. When Clark expressed disgust over bush's latest attempt to try to present himself as a JFK with his new "moon mission" one clever person in the crowd loudly yelled "Send bush to the moon!" This drew a laugh from Clark as well as the crowd.) Clark also said something to the effect of; he would also be visiting Iraq, but that it wouldn't be to slither in with a turkey in the middle of the night for the sake of a photo op.
