Dean defends Kerry, attacks Bush during home-state swing

BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean defended U.S. Sen. John Kerry on Wednesday, dismissing as "bloopers" remarks Kerry made that were construed by some to be insulting to American troops.

"Kerry made a blooper. Bloopers happen," the former Vermont governor told reporters.

...

He also expressed optimism about Democrats' chances of winning control of Congress in Tuesday's elections and took aim at President Bush's administration, comparing it to that of President Richard Nixon and Vice President Spiro Agnew.

"I think there's a lot of similarities between Nixon-Agnew and Bush-Cheney," he said, saying both used the Internal Revenue Service for political purposes.

3. The Democrats that are dissing Kerry should do their homework
They all appear to be getting their information from Faux instead of getting the facts.

10. Thank you for pointing this out...
Kerry has been using this line in his speeches for quite a while...just flubbed it up. Big deal. Did he say the our dead soldiers are "just numbers" or that Iraq would be a "comma"? Didn't think so.

5. Howard Dean GETS IT.
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 12:10 PM by The Stranger
No apologies. He comes out swinging every time.

Even when the whores from NPR (Neocon Public Relations) ask him the White House questions on "raising taxes," he hits them with the fact that massive corporations are fucking everyone and not paying any taxes.

HOWARD DEAN GETS IT.

6. props to dr. dean.

after a long string of, shall we say, less than courageous responses
from kerry's fellow dems, howard dean comes through with the right
tone, and the right response.

maybe this will steady the ship.

11. Also props to Sherrod "Bull Balls" Brown
for standing up for Kerry. He nailed it. Republicans are just trying to change the subject.

I also think that Tony "Fucking" Snow's "Just say you're sorry. It's not hard" was perhaps the most deliciously hypocritical thing I've ever heard.

Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 02:02 PM by Virginia Dare
John Kerry is actually trying to help them get out, unlike the chickenhawk morons in charge who fucked it up in the first place. Those poor soldiers are just cannon fodder as far as they're concerned. Stay the course, let more American soldiers in a useless and unnecessary cause.

what's more important - obscene profits for Halliburton, which go to line Rethuglican pockets, or the lives of a few measly troops? Not to mention lives of innocent Iraqis. One really must set ones priorities.

15. I appreciate Dean more and more
I think Dean has been like a tonic for us. He has been fearless from the start, and I believe that his example has caused many of our Dem politicians see that living with a spine is possible, after all. :patriot: Go, Dean!

17. THANK YOU MR. DEAN!!
At least someone has the decency to come to Kerry's aid! How many stupid dumb remarks has * made?...too many to count!!! Kerry makes 1 mistake in telling a joke and gets the shaft from members of his own party!! Ford can go to hell as far as I'm concerned and all the rest that decided he shouldn't show up while they are campaigning.

19. AT LAST!!!
See how easy it is, Harold Ford, Hillary Clinton, the rest of you Dems who asked Kerry to cancel campaign appearances? What Howard Dean said came from a real Democrat who doesn't hide under his desk when Republicans demand an apology.

Good God. I hate it that Kerry apologized, but top Dems as a group buckled under the GOP attacks, so he had to. He did phrase it so it was clear this was a "blooper" not what the Repubs were whining about.

THANK YOU, DR. DEAN!!

27. I'll tell you who I WOULDN'T want to have a beer with...
...and that's G.W. Bush. Or any member of his mis-administration.

The first time he yuks it up during a beer bash, pretending to be a cowboy, I'd want to slap him.

Then again, I want to slap him even without the beer.

28. Go Dean!
If anyone understands being unjustly smeared by the right-wing spinners in the media, Howard Dean does. I'm glad he's sticking up for an unjustly maligned Dem (unlike a lot of cowards in our party) and still keeping up his tradition of giving the *Republicans* hell.
