Bush reiterates US winning in Iraq

WHITE HOUSE (AP) -- President Bush says the upsurge in violence in Iraq does not disprove his contention that U-S forces are winning there.

Interviewed on the Rush Limbaugh Show, the president insisted whenever the enemy in Iraq "confronts" U-S troops, they lose. He says the only way America can lose the conflict is if those troops go home before the mission's complete.

...

They also follow a New York Times report that quotes an internal Pentagon study saying Iraq is moving "closer to chaos."

1. So the more they fight us, the more we are winning.
Therefore the worst possible outcome is that EITHER side stops fighting.

He has never ever read about the civil war. About how Grant would march in parallel lines with Robert E. Lee. Every day another battle, every day a union "loss". But instead of retreating like Union generals before him, Grant kept trailing the Confederate Army.

It finally ended at Appomattox.

Robert E. Lee's army was literally nicked to death without ever suffering a major loss.

I know the moron can't read, and doesn't study (so he's stuck in Iraq), but someone in the Pentagon should be able to sit him down and tell him this American story... and draw some parallels to Iraq.

Or Vietnam.

5. How Dare the President Insult the Troops
We are winning? Really.....what are we winning? What is the score????? Oh say 150,000 Iraqis to 3,000 US. If that is winning I would hate to see what losing is. If we are winning how soon before we get flowers and candy!

6. Winning what, precisely?
Are we winning:

The race to create the most corpses?

The contest to make the most terrorists?

The competition to physically and emotionally damage the most American soldiers?

The effort to make the most enemies?

Looks like we're winning in the above 4 areas, anyway.

8. Exactly....
...someone please explain (yes, you Repuke lurkers) one good thing that has come out of the war, and please don't tell me the removal of Saddam Hussein. Frankly, Iraqis are safer with him in charge than without.

The Repukes like to pick on the "lack of a Democratic plan" because they don't want the results of their "plan" to have the light of day cast on it. This war has been an utter failure for everyone EXCEPT al Qaeda. Way to go, Dubya.

18. They said the same thing in Vietnam after Tet
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 06:12 PM by teryang
They were wrong. It isn't about body counts.

A war of colonial conquest on behalf of swashbuckling corporatists is doomed to failure. Anyone who doesn't understand why, is too stupid to hold national public office. Failing in the arena of international economic competition the US now reverts to a facist imperial model where the supremacy of the dollar will be maintained by bullets and bombs. It can't and won't work.

Wars don't make money nor do they improve productivity, in fact, this war merely diverts capital from competitive economic endeavors and accelerates the transfer of capital to our economic and political rivals.

During Vietnam the dumping of defense dollars abroad and the diversion of capital from peaceful econmic enterprises elevated Japan to our chief economic rival taking market share and leadership away from US manufacturing to this very day.

Now a similar insidious pursuit has almost completely destroyed our manufacturing sector and sends all of our dollars to Asia.

The stupid people in Washington trying to explain the accelerated developement of Asian economic and military power (in light of colossal military waste in pursuit of failure) say stupid things like "the Chinese save too much" and "Americans don't save enough."

His arms will be cut off, then his legs, but he'll still be waving his stumps around and saying
