Clinton: Kerry's remarks inappropriate; Dems can't be distracted

KINGSTON, N.Y. (AP) _ Hillary Rodham Clinton said Wednesday that fellow Democratic Sen. John Kerry's controversial remark about Iraq was "inappropriate," and Democrats must keep the focus on President Bush and his policies.

"I think that no one wants to see the 2004 election replayed," the former first lady said during a campaign stop at a Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Kingston.

...

Asked Wednesday at the VFW post about the Kerry remarks, Clinton said: "We don't need to be reciting the 2004 election, as much as President Bush would like that to happen. This election is about him and his policies."

...

Clinton also said, "I believe we can't let it divert us from looking at the issues that are at stake in our country. We do need a new policy in Iraq."

13. I don't agree
The Repugs wanted to keep Iraq out of the picture until after the election.

This issue is keeping the war forefront in people's minds. According to polls the Iraq war is the biggest issue Americans have and they don't agree with the Repugs on it.

This has to be a nightmare for the administration.

5. Am I the only one going...
:wtf:

I would never say that a Democrat is above reproach merely for being a Democrat... but please, Ms Clinton, try to think beyond your own (theoretical) future political aspirations and just.... what's that phrase... oh yeah....

STFU!

Even if what you were saying is true, you're just becoming part of the problem by saying this. Let's save the circular firing squad for something truly important.

Bah... why do I even bother. It's not as if she's going to read this, or even care if she did. This is all just choir preaching at best, and possibly inciting a flame-war with one of her fans at worst. None of this really matters.

Time to log off for a few hours.

10. "I think that no one wants to see the 2004 election replayed,"
Yah, I think that was a clumsy way of capitalizing on the controversy for herself. All Kerry said was Bush is an idiot and we are living with the results. Is he not supposed to talk about Bush anymore but she can? Or is she too afraid (as usual) to stand up to them and instead becomes one of them. All she had to say is, he messed up a joke, he flubbed a line. Big deal! How many soldiers died in Iraq this month? where's the apology for that?

8. Nothing inappropriate. Do your research, Hillary.
A victim of the right wing smear machine can't see the truth? Remember how the media crucified her for her "vast right wing conspiracy" remark?

Jeebers. We're in the Twilight Zone or something.

11. Hillary -- just shut up! Every time you step right into the Repuke frame!
She needs to sit down and have a serious discussion with Lakoff.

If she weren't so worried about '08, she'd be out there defending Kerry. He wasn't much of a candidate in 2004, but at least he's showing spine and saying things that need to be said. She and other Dems should be getting past the 'botched' joke, and be reiterating the main points that Kerry is making -- and that is that Bush and his failed policies DO NOT SUPPORT the troops. Give em hell, Kerry!

15. Finally for all the Hils fans who said that she didn't say anything about
this situation because there were no links to any media sites, well he ya go. Your girl is just taking an opportunity to beat down the possible competition in 2008, even if it would happen to hurt us in 2006.

I don't ever want Kerry to be nominated for anything other than Senator from Massachusetts ever again. And I sure don't want Hils going after the hubby's old job. But between the two of them I can stomach him much easier than I can her.

17. The point should be
that comedy amateurs should not attempt to be cleverly funny in the remaining days of this campaign. If I want political funny I will go to Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert.

....and JK shouldn't have said what he did a week away from this election...it almost seems like it was on purpose intead of a mere mistake in light of all this *debate* over it which will only hurt us all the more.

20. This is what is wrong with the Clinton's .Her remark in "inappropriate".
And she is afraid that 2004 will replay and she doesn't want Kerry as a primary opponent. What she really wants is 2006 to say om message and be all about her! Disgusting!

28. This is all so very ridiculous
I know Hillary Clinton is a very smart person. I know she knows John Kerry was not making "inappropriate" comments about the troops. Why is she pretending to be as stupid as the willfully ignorant Repugs and their "fair and balanced" media? Why can't the Dems stop pandering to the right-wing blowhards and their media lackeys and actually stand up for one of their own when he is being unreasonably (and very, very stupidly) attacked? This is feeling more and more like bizarro world.
