Man named Pro-Life seeks governorship in Idaho

BOISE, Idaho (Reuters) - The Idaho gubernatorial candidate formerly known as Marvin Richardson is so strongly opposed to abortion that he has changed his name to Pro-Life.

"I'm the most conservative politician in Idaho," the candidate said in a Western U.S. state known as a conservative bedrock. "When sperm meets egg, that's a new person."

He changed his name in August to highlight his stand against abortion, joining the ranks of Prince, Madonna, Cher, Bono and others who go by a single moniker.

He also has campaigned in his own distinct way. During a candidates' debate at one point the longshot candidate avoided a question and instead began to pray.

because, don't laugh, many in rural idaho are up in arms and are convinced they are overpopulated and being invaded by californians out to destroy their way of life

we had to beat one group off with sticks until they realized we were from louisiana and texas and too poor to even dream of buying property in idaho -- realizing we were true tourists and not real estate buyers, they turned on a dime and suddenly became friendly and helpful
