Paris airport bars Muslim staff
By Clive Myrie
BBC News, Paris

More than 70 Muslim workers at France's main airport have been stripped of the security clearance for allegedly posing a risk to passengers, officials say.

The staff at Charles de Gaulle airport, including baggage handlers, are said to have visited terrorist training camps in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

One man is thought to have been a friend of Richard Reid, the so-called British shoe bomber.

Richard Reid tried to blow up a flight from Paris to the US in 2001.

1. France has a real problem
I think they were overly idealistic about their ability to integrate/assimilate immigrants. Does anyone else see a possible right-wing government in France's near future?

3. This is the issue that will bring the right to power in Europe

Immigration, and the refusal of the Muslims to secularize. You think the Europeans are having problems with it now? Just wait until the millions of Iraqi and Afghanistani refugees start flooding in, when we finally bail out of those countries, and they fall completely apart. Anybody have any doubts about how much this issue alone is keeping Howard in power in Australia?

4. I don't think they even thought about assimilation.
Migrants from Algeria were a source of cheap labour in the post-war building boom, and the French
used them, shunted them into slums and forgot about them.

cdg is the worst airport in the world, no offense to those who have to work there

judging from how i was treated they think EVERYBODY is richard reid's next door neighbor and bestest friend, my officer even found things i never knew existed in my clothing, such as small inspection notices

you either laugh or you cry in this life i guess

i realize they do not want a 911 event originating from paris but damn they give anal retentive a new meaning
