Boehner refuses to apologize for faulting generals

Boehner refuses to apologize for faulting generals

In the wake of Sen. John Kerry’s belated apology for offending troops deployed in Iraq, House Majority Leader Rep. John Boehner of Ohio is being asked by Democrats to apologize for seemingly blaming senior military officers for any problems with the Bush administration’s Iraq strategy.

Boehner, however, does not appear to be budging.
“Good try,” he said when asked about demands for an apology.

...

Rumsfeld, Boehner said, has been pushing the military to transform, but the uniformed military leaders have resisted.

“You have to understand that the generals who have been in charge of the Pentagon have been very resistant to change,” Boehner said. “It’s the younger generals who understand this new force structure that we need to have for the military of the 21st century.

4. K&R We need to drown out the Rove propaganda machine for once and
for all by screaming for Boehner's head, not just his apology, from here 'til eternity.

He's a traitor, no less. WHY DOES JOHN BOEHNER HATE THE TROOPS???????????

8. That is greatly to be desired
Unfortunately, we don't have the might Republican Wurlitzer to wheeze into action and demand coverage of Boehner's comments in every radio market in the nation, and the craven lickspittles of the networks (thinking here of Mark Halperin at ABC) don't jump when we say frog, like they do for Rush and Sean and Bill and Hugh and all the other reactionary mouthpieces who dominate the airwaves with specious talk of the "liberal" media.

5. The military, retired and otherwise, need to demand the apology.
Coming from the Dems it looks petty - like tit-for-tat.

Where are all the Generals that have called for Rumsfeld to resign? Put them on the TV immediately and demand that not only Boehner apologize, but reiterate demands that Rumsfeld resign.

12. Actually, I don't mind it in this case if it "looks" that way.
There probably isn't enough time until electon day to put together a proper diverse opposition.

15. Exactly! Someone needs to send this to Zinni or Wes Clark.
It's one thing for Reid and Dean to ask for an apology, as they have and the "liberal" media ignored it, of course. But get some retired generals to voice their disgust over Boehner's contempt for our troops and this story will get some traction.

10. Obviously people forget that bush is Commander in Chief
Look it up for definitions. The old saying: The buck stops here comes to mind. bush has destroyed the honor of being in the military, willing to put your life on the line for country. He has no concept of that truth since he has Never put his worthless life on the line. Hides behind blackhawk helicopters, hordes of SS, keeps protesters blocks away from him, on and on. Chickenshit Bush!
