Bush plans trip to Greeley (Colorado) to promote GOP

LONGMONT — President George W. Bush has been campaigning for Republicans all week, and Saturday morning he’s coming to Greeley.

Partisans on both sides disagree on whether a presidential visit will help or hurt Colorado Republicans.

At his stops in Sugar Land, Texas, and Statesboro, Ga., the president rallied the Republican troops while bashing Democratic candidates.

Bush is stumping for Republican incumbent Rep. Marilyn Musgrave, 4th Congressional District, and gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez. A host of other statewide and local candidates also will attend the rally, which starts at 10 a.m.

Shaun Kenney, campaign manager for Musgrave, said people requesting tickets do not have to be Republicans. He said the campaign will hand tickets out to Democrats and unaffiliated voters who support Republican candidates and the president.

“We’ll know our own,” he said. “It’s an imprecise science.”

I wonder if the CO press will field any questions about Haggard, since Bush is close enough to him to hold weekly calls and it's been reported that he answers Haggard's concerns within 24 hrs.
