Kidnapped Iraqi Journalist Found Dead

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- An Iraqi journalist who was kidnapped last month was found
dead nearly two weeks after his abduction, a media advocacy group said Thursday.

Reporters Without Borders "condemned the murder of Iraqi freelance journalist"
Abdul-Majid Ismail Khalil who was kidnapped on Oct. 18 in Baghdad's eastern
Jamila neighborhood.

Khalil, who worked for several Iraqi daily newspapers, was abducted by gunmen
who surrounded his car, the group said. His body was found 13 days later,
the Paris-based group said.

With security in the country worsening, 2006 has been the deadliest year yet,
with at least 27 journalists killed to date.
