GOP sees drop in number of voters
Rolls at lowest point in 6 years
By Andrew Ryan, Globe Correspondent | November 3, 2006

The number of registered Republicans in Massachusetts has fallen by more than by 31,000 since the state elected Governor Mitt Romney four years ago, in a 6 percent drop that puts GOP ranks at their lowest point in six years, according to a count released yesterday.

With the Republican Party fighting to keep its 16-year hold on the governor’s office this Tuesday, the new figures show that Republicans make up 12.5 percent of the state’s voters, or 498,962. Four years ago, when the state elected Romney, there were 530,512 registered Republicans, making up 13.4 percent of the electorate.

"The last 10 years, it’s as if the Republican Party has been evaporating in this state," said Todd Domke, a Republican analyst who has worked with the national party. "But it’s less a matter of registration than fewer candidates, fewer officeholders, fewer leaders, and no strategy to reverse the trend. That's what’s disturbing."

4. Maybe Der Mittenfuhrer SHOULD run for president.
The more he speaks, the more people say, "Hey... I don't want to be part of HIS party."

11. Locve your suggestion. He could REALLY follow in dimson's
footsteps, except that with mittens, the margin of error would be too big to deibold over.

5. Embarrassed to be Republican
Edited on Fri Nov-03-06 07:42 AM by C_U_L8R
Who wouldn't be?

Bunch of knuckledragging hatemongers spewing the
ridiculous christo-fascist drivel and legislating onerous
restrictions upon everyone while driving the country deeper
in debt, shitting all over the Constitution and destroying
goodwill around the world while also sending our kids to
their deaths on a mission that revels in torture, wiretapping,
and the slaughter of hundreds of thousand of innocents.

Meanwhile they are killing the environment.

6. I keep wondering....
How on Earth did Romney get elected governor of Massachusetts, of all places? Every time I see or hear him he sounds like he belongs in Utah.

13. The Democrats were working at cross-purposes

We had legislative leaders who were happier to be big shots under a Republican governor than to deal with a Democrat they couldn't control. Fortunately those guys (who would start undercutting the nominee the say after the primary) are no longer in office, and the legislative honchos now are on board with electing Deval Patrick.

Lol, it must be nice in MA.
Concerning the Senate race, for a long time there didn't seem to be a poll. The last one was the result of the election in 2000 haha. I also liked the analysis from electionpredition that said it will be Kennedy's seat as long as he wants it and polls show him leading with a margin of 35-40%.

And all 10 House districts are held be Dems, none are seen competitive and what's even better, 6 Dems seem to be unopposed. That's right, in only 4 out of 10 races did the Repubs even bother to find a deplorable candidate to run against a Dem haha.
In short, I like MA ;).

8. I think all the RW radio in Boston actually turns people away from the GOP
Turn on WEEI, WRKO, WTKK it's a 24/7 GOP fellatio fest. People don't want to be associated with bigots like Howie Carr and Gerry Callhan and charlatans like "Scotto" and Graham and the rest of the lying fools.

9. I don't listen to Howie Carr - but I meet him getting food - and he is a not
a bad guy - just misguided and focused on the pols that were protected from the courts in the old days.

However, I noticed that he has gotten worse as to his show and now qualifies as a Sean Hannity sub for Fox.
