(Sinclair TV's) Hyman to stop his 'The Point' remarks, says 'I'm exhausted'
http://www.baltimoresun.com/features/lifestyle/bal-bz.to.hyman03nov03,0,214203.story?coll=bal-artslife-today

Although not as well known as Bill O'Reilly or Sean Hannity, Mark Hyman has made a name for himself with his fiery conservative commentaries on dozens of television stations owned by Hunt Valley's Sinclair Broadcast Group.

Yesterday, Hyman, 48, announced that he plans to drop his daily commentary, known as "The Point," at the end of the month to spend more time with his four children.

"I want to focus more on family activities and recharge my batteries," Hyman said in a telephone interview. "I'm exhausted."

Hyman, a former Sinclair vice president and until two years ago its spokesman, said he was not being pushed out and that he would still work on "strategic issues" for Sinclair, which owns or operates more than 50 stations, including Fox affiliate WBFF in Baltimore. The company said Hyman "may make occasional televised appearances to discuss current events."

But after more than five years and some 2,000 daily commentaries, Hyman's absence may well be felt by his adherents, who welcomed his excoriative editorials against Massachusetts Sen. John Kerry's war record during the 2004 presidential campaign and Hyman's descriptions of the French as "cheese-eating surrender monkeys."

2. Despicable man who defended use of torture and spread right wing lies
Wonderful news for those of us who have had to endure or turn off his disgusting messages for years on our local news affiliates. My local TV channel was forced to show his rantings during each daily newscast for years in an area where this is the only station to provide our local news and weather. The worst was his defense of Abu Ghraib torture where incredibly he claimed that torture was good (he later changed his tune on that after a lot of negative feedback) and his continual torrent of commentaries lying about John and Teresa Kerry before the 2004 elections.

6. Wow, he was sill doing those? I boycotted my local affiliate just
prior to the 04 election after I was so sick of his shit. I E-mailed the staion manager about his lies and the poor guy seemed so embarrassed. He toed the company line in his response but you could tell the stations declining ratings, layoffs, etc. were taking their toll on him.

Fuck Hyman.

10. Good by Mark Hyman and
all I can say is thank goodness you have children and you want to spend time with them as your "commentaries" each day tend to ruin my day. One thing sure is that I have never agreed with you and was just thinking to myself yesterday when you came on that you should be canned as you are just nasty. I have written to my local station on more than one occasion to object to your very partial viewpoint. You have exhausted and exasperated me.

11. Spending more time with his family?
Golly, that's usually the vale of someone who's about to be indicted. Or publicly embarrassed. Or both. I wonder if Mr. Hyman was on Brother Haggard's speed dial? And how strange that he should need to recharge his batteries right on the eve of his movement's Greatest Victory Ever.
