Dog handler in Abu Ghraib abuse case won't go to Iraq
http://www.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/meast/11/03/iraq.cardona/index.html

The U.S. Army dog handler who was convicted of abusing detainees at Abu Ghraib prison outside Baghdad will not be redeployed to Iraq, an Army spokesman said Friday.

Although Sgt. Santos Cardona left Monday for Iraq with his unit -- the 23rd Military Police Company -- from Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, he will remain in Kuwait.

"It would not be prudent" to allow him to be sent on to Iraq, the spokesman said.

His case is under review, but the Army says because of the publicity surrounding his conviction he would be a target for insurgents, which would also put his fellow soldiers in danger.

The Army said Cardona has served his sentence of 90 days of hard labor, and is in the process of paying his fine at the rate of $600 a month.

Why the hell is this idiot still a Sgt? He should've been busted down to buck private.

1. That was quick
Guess he will be in charge of training those who are sent.

Same damage to the human race (as intended) but less press.

Problem solved.

Pigs.

This man should be stripped naked and set free in Sadr City, and let them take care of him. We don't need people like him in the world.

5. "Busted down to private?"
So it's okay for a war criminal to be serving in the armed forces in any capacity? At the very least, I would think this would constitute conduct unbecoming and would warrant a dishonorable discharge. More appropriate still would be a long stretch in a federal prison.
