Newsweek Poll: Bush approval at 35%
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 11:35 AM by CookieD
Just announced on MSNBC. Waiting for link. Other numbers in the survey sounded excellent!

Nov. 4, 2006 - As President George W. Bush jets across Red State America this weekend, Republican candidates are falling further behind Democratic rivals, according to the new NEWSWEEK poll. While the GOP has lagged behind Democrats throughout the campaign season, the trend in the past month—when NEWSWEEK conducted four polls in five weeks—had suggested the Republicans were building momentum in the homestretch.

No more. The new poll finds support for Republicans (and for President Bush) receding. For example, 53 percent of Americans want the Democrats to win enough seats to take control of one or both houses of Congress in the midterm elections on Tuesday. Those results are close to early October levels, while less than a third of Americans (32 percent) want Republicans to retain control. If the elections were held today, 54 percent of likely voters say they would support the Democratic candidate in their district versus 38 percent who would vote for the Republican-a 16-point edge for the Democrats.

...
Meanwhile, the President’s approval has fallen back to 35 percent, after a slow but steady rise from 33 percent at the beginning of October to 37 percent in the NEWSWEEK poll last week.

10. The old DSM IV criteria for "idiot" was...
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 01:42 PM by davekriss
...an IQ less than 70. So you are wrong, the 35% that still support George W Bush despite (in the convenient words of Molly Ivins):

Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo, unprecedented presidential powers, unmatched incompetence, unparalleled corruption, unwarranted eavesdropping, Katrina, Enron, Halliburton, global warming, Cheney’s secret energy task force, record oil company profits, $3 gasoline, FEMA, the Supreme Court, Diebold, Florida in 2000, Ohio in 2004, Terri Schiavo, stem cell research, golden parachutes, shrunken pensions, unavailable and expensive healthcare, habeas corpus, no weapons of mass destruction, sacrificed soldiers and Iraqi civilians, wasted billions, Taliban resurgence, expiration of the assault weapons ban, North Korea, Iran, intelligent design, Swift boat hit squads, and on and on.
In light of all that these 35% are definately not DSM IV Idiots, they meet the old criteria for IMBECILES, ie. there IQ's must be less than 50!

In actual fact I believe their moral IQ's are less than 50.

17. It's not just the kid in the red shirt, either...
The girl on the far left looks like she's nodded off, the woman over her shoulder looks like she's trying valiantly to swallow a yawn, the person next to her has that "I look like I'm paying attention, but I'm really in my own little world" look that high school students develop...
And the woman at the far right at the pic just looks BORED and like she wants to get the hell outta here.

11. I saw a W sticker today.
I could not believe my eyes.

You'd have to be retarded. Which begs the question- just what is wrong with 35% of America?

16. I saw one yesterday
He had two W stickers on his car. I don't see a lot of them anymore but there are still a lot of other right-wing stickers around here and our crooked, Republican congressman is a shoe-in according to the polls. We have a very "special" type of Republican around here. :eyes: I'm betting they are a big stronghold of that 35%. But I'm glad to know the rest of the country is coming around.:)

At this point who on earth would be admitting support for W?

I always have to check the driver glassy eyes, slack jaw, tall hairdo etc.

13. "Slow but steady rise to 37" BS! The real numbers are probably 12%
I am so not buying any of it...This is the pre-election poll that needs to CYA for the results.
