Allen greeted by Sheehan, anti-war protesters

(AP) -- Candidates in some tight Senate races were up early. But Senator George Allen might wish he'd slept in.

The Republican went to a northern Virginia subway station and found a group of protesters including anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan. As commuters tried to get to their trains, the shouting and shoving drowned Allen out.

12. Umm, no offense to Cindy Sheehan, who I admire, but VA

is overall conservative and tying her to Jim Webb is NOT a good thing in this state.

Hope the local press doesn't play her up because she is one of those lightening rods (like Kerry) who might tip the scales for Virginia conservatives who are currently taking a good hard look at Webb right now. Or motivate turnout for those disillusioned conservatives who were just going to stay home.

On edit: read the entire blurb and saw that Ms. Sheehan is in Arlington which is great. Arlington (in Northern VA) is a nice, bright blue with many residents who agree wholeheartedly with Ms. Sheehan. Anywhere outside of Northern VA, however, would not be welcoming at all. Our (awesome!) Democratic Governors have done well in these areas the last two election cycles by being very, very moderate and restrained.

14. depends on the county. Fairfax county is pretty blue, especially

in Alexandria, Arlington, Reston. Loudoun and Prince William counties are getting better but still hard sells for the Democrats.

Seems like the closer you get to DC, the bluer it gets. Heh.

Good news is that our local Democratic parties have grrreeat GOTV mechanisms in place and are revved up for tomorrow.
