FLA. GOP Governor Candidate Crist, Snubs Bush Visit

PENSACOLA, Fla. - The White House did not hide its irritation Monday at Florida GOP gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist for ducking President Bush at a campaign rally in the Republican friendly Panhandle.

Crist said he considered the Pensacola area so firmly in his camp that it made more sense to campaign elsewhere in the state as the race to replace outgoing Gov. Jeb Bush tightened.

On a tarmac in Texas where the president boarded Air Force One for the trip east, Bush political strategist Karl Rove mockingly questioned what kind of alternate rally Crist could put together that would rival the expected 10,000-person crowd that Bush was expected to draw at the Pensacola Civic Center.

The White House already had distributed schedules saying Crist would introduce Bush at the rally.

Crist's opponent, Democratic Rep. Jim Davis, seized on the news.

"Now that the president is so unpopular, Charlie refuses to stand side by side with him," Davis said. "It says when the going gets tough, Charlie won't stand up."

This is an INCREDIBLE SNUB! So funny, I love it! Jeb should hold a press conference and out Crist in anger... that'd be great. Oh wait, Crist is already been outed by 2 or 3 different folks, not that his hypocrisy matters to kool aid drinkers (like the 35% that will vote for Harris).

1. I almost( well not really) feel sorry for the *
staffers, he must be having nasty tantrums. Wouldn't want to be near him with the news that keeps coming his way.

3. He doesn't need Bush. He has no Democratic opponent.
Or at least he didn't have one until this last weekend, when somebody claiming to be a Democrat (whoever it was, I voted for him because he didn't have an "R" next to his name) finally started running ads.

"Jesus" Crist has used TV ads to accuse this unknown candidate of everything from flying one of the jetliners, or both, into the WTC Towers, to assassinating Ronald Reagan. Only now, in the last week of the election, has Mr. Not-Crist started running ads. And they're worthless, wimpy and weak.

No, this isn't sarcasm, this is angry cynicism. This was the most important mission the Florida Democratic Party had to do for the last few years, and they blew it again. I don't even see why they call themselves a party any more.

4. Sad to say, but true
TV down here has been inundated with pro-Crist/anti-Davis ads for weeks and weeks. I mean, 2 or 3 ads per commercial break. Seen NOTHING from Davis. Florida Democratic Party screwed up this race pretty badly.

Of course, since the Florida legislature gets to draw up its own congressional districts anyway, a Davis win wouldn't change a hell of a lot anyway. The state legislature will stay exactly how it is because all the districts have been drawn up so as to protect the Republican majority. And when we try to change it so that an independent commision would draw up the districts, the amendment gets ruled unconstitutional and won't be voted on.

I hate this state...
