Democrats (Bill Clinton) assail Republican status quo

Democrats assail Republican status quo

By DAVID ESPO, AP Special Correspondent 9 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - On the eve of midterm elections, Democrats criticized Republicans as stewards of a stale status quo while
President Bush campaigned into the evening in a drive to preserve GOP control in Congress.

"They can't run anything right," said former
President Clinton, taunting Republicans about the war in
Iraq, the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and even the scandal involving the House page program that complicated GOP efforts to win two more years in power.

Bush campaigned on Monday from Florida to Arkansas and Texas. But the day brought one more reminder of his poor standing in the polls when Republican gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist skipped the presidential rally in Pensacola, Fla., to make a speech of his own hundreds of miles away.

Bush made no mention of the evident snub in public, but not so his aides. "Let's see how many people show up in Palm Beach on 24 hours notice, versus 8,000 or 9,000 people" expected for the president's speech, said Karl Rove, the White House's top political strategist.

1. Wonder why Clinton wouldn't do this in 2002. And in 2004 he was still siding with Bush
publically on Iraq and the way he was handling the war on terror. I guess he changed his mind.

to be supportive of George Bush in many oncamera appearances. There are many threads in the archives that blogged his appearances and often left us disappointed for his support of Bush.

4. I have the same question...WHERE WERE YOU BILL IN 02 and 04?
On Pappy's lap, that's where.

Big Dog is my favorite, but his coziness with Bush Sr. makes me REALLY question what the hell is wrong with him.

His absence in the last two elections could have been a deciding factor.

5. In 2000 the Democrats said they didn't want Clinton campaigning for them

Clinton would have gladly gone around the country spouting his/their attributes but Gore's handlers said he would hurt their cause instead of help it. I think they were quite wrong but as it turned out it would not have mattered anyway. The election was fixed..
