Democrat Sherrod Brown is projected the winner in the race for U.S. Senate, defeating incumbent Republican Mike DeWine.

Brown, a congressman from Lorain County, was ahead 58 percent to 42 percent, according to exit polls. CNN declared Brown the winner over the two-term incumbent DeWine.
