RELEASE No. 20061108-01

Nov. 8, 2006

One Task Force Lightning Soldier killed, three U.S. Soldiers woundedMulti-National Division – North PAO

MOSUL, Iraq – A Task Force Lightning Soldier assigned to 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, was killed Tuesday as a result of enemy action while conducting operations in Kirkuk Province.

Three U.S. Soldiers were also wounded during this operation. The wounded Soldiers were transported to a coalition forces medical treatment facility.

The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

desertion some time ago?

Can't they execute those that desert in time of war?

I'm just remembering the old film "The Execution of Private Slovik". He wasn't even actually a deserter; he went around the camps cooking. Just could not kill. And he was ultimately punished for being a pacifist. Tough movie to watch, imo.
