Former House member (r) charged with assaulting man who defeated him(d)
You lost-get over it.

Witness says Rick Green hit Rep. Patrick Rose at Dripping Springs polling place; Rose says punch missed
By Laura Heinauer

Wednesday, November 08, 2006

A former state representative from Dripping Springs has been charged with assaulting the man who defeated him in an extremely close and frequently nasty race four years ago.

A witness said Rick Green, a Republican, shoved and then punched state Rep. Patrick Rose, D-Dripping Springs, as they stood outside a polling place Tuesday morning at Sunset Canyon Baptist Church east of Dripping Springs.

Rose, 28, who was leading in his bid for re-election Tuesday, said Green, 35, shoved him but didn't land a punch. "Rick lost his temper," he said. "It's unfortunate that something like this happened on Election Day."

4. That's funny, because for some unknown reason, I was thinking Pennsylvania
Land of cry-baby Republicans.

Don't ask me why, I don't know. That was just my first thought.

10. Thank God neither one of them has a license to pack a gun.
From what I understand, a couple of our city commissioners and possibly others in our city government have one. That should tell you something.

13. Howdy, Neighbor!
I live in Dripping Springs and was standing in line waiting to vote when this happened, though we didn't see or hear anything. In fact, I was chatting with Patrick at around 11:15 and this apparently happened at around 11:30. I didn't know about it until I got back to work and read about it in DU.

I'm glad Green's punch missed because Patrick has such a handsome face. :)

I'm not the least bit surprised that this happened there. Lots of ultra righies still live out in that neck of the woods.

12. I DO live in Dripping Springs
and Hays County went almost completely blue, from the county judge to our county commissioner.

Yes, Rick Green is an ultra-right jerk but guess what? He's not actually from around here. His wife is from here. His name was mud around here before this happened and it's going to be worse now.

The city is named for the natural springs that are in the center of town next to an historical marker and a fire ant mound. ;)

11. Four years ago! Time to move on, Mr. Green.
Some people really have trouble moving forward with their lives.
